He is still a little nieve at the back but a great defender and very good at linking with the left winger.

He played quite well but he made a mistake in the Geovani goal. To be honest the kid is young so this will be a good experience for him. As far as getting ahead in the pecking order for LB I think going forward he is very good. Aurelio is only ahead of him in terms of maybe dead ball situations and long range passing but defensive wise I thnk he needs some slight improvment. Hopefully that should come the more he plays.

gracias bav, as it happens just got to see the goals and yes he was sleeping for the goal, but that will improve with experience maybe he switched off because we were beating a poor team 2-0 and they were down to ten men, but like i say he will learn

Well if he played well that's good enough for me, our defense has been making mistakes for a while now so for him to make one isn't a big deal for me.  I can't wait until next year hopefully he plays more I really like Insua.

Just wanted to bring up this thread.

This year its going to be huge for him. Its time to show if he can keep up his consistency and build up his experience. He has bags of potential and could be a massive player for us.

Just found this brilliant compilation of Insua 08/09 season review.

Emiliano Insua 08/09

More of the same please Insua!!! :buttrock

Is there any chance he could get a call up to senior Argie team if he has a good season for us? He is definatley a keeper.

If he can keep his consistency and improves, why not.

I don't think he'll play much this season.

Aurelio will still be first choice when fit.  I know 'when fit' is a big 'if' for Aurelio, but Benitez may give Dossena another chance if he doesn't get flogged.

What I can see happening is Distin coming in as back-up CB, and if he does I actually expect him to get a lot of games at LB when Aurelio doesn't play.  He was LB for Newcastle and initially at City before being moved to the middle and can do a pretty good job there.  I'm not saying this is good or bad, but if Distin comes in I can see this happening.  We know Rafa likes verstaile players.

Not too sure to be honest mate, Rafa rates Insua highly, thats why he gave him a lot of games last season to impress, and he was solid in all of the games he played.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got alot of games this season.
