what excuse was it this time i wonder?

Liverpools last 6 games: 0 starts, 4 minutes against man city, 21 minutes against Wigan.

25 minutes in the last 6 games.

Some facts:

Aquilani has started 4 league games for Liverpool:

His 1st start was a 2-0 victory against wolves on 26 dec

His 2nd start was a 1-0 victory against villa on 29 dec

His 3rd start was a 3-0 victory against spurs on 20 Jan

His 4th start was a 2-0 victory against Bolton on 30 January.

Aquilani record 4 starts, 4 wins.

dont tell me he's not ready / not good enough / not fit enough / not match fit enough

Why does rafa not play him? why? why? why? why?

:no

Hie 5th start is a 4-1 win against Portsmouth.

5 starts : 5 wins

Only yesterday some on here were writing him off as a failure.

Not saying all that goes out the window with tonight but tonight we saw what he is capable of and he isn't even full fit yet.

Jog on indeed.

Good thing Rafa was smart enough to sign him and buy a player to help us for the next 4 years as well.  :D

I had a Fu*king big argument in the alehouse yesterday with a mate who insisted that Aquilani was sh'ite. Based on what? Fu'ck knows.
The lad has had 6 starts (someone correct me) and 10 appearances and has now got three assists and a goal.
I cant wait to rub his face in the sh'it.
Imagine if Quila plays on thursday and repeats tonight's performance...?

NO debating he was excellent tonight and showed us all he has the potential to be a good player for us. You must take into consideration that Pompey were sh*te tonight and Aquilani was given the freedom of midfield to pick passes and dictate play but it certainly bowds well for the lad.

He is likely to start on Thursday AND Sunday as the incident between Gerrard and Brown will be reviewed by the FA and Gerrard will pick up a (minimum) 3 match ban. Opens up a spot to Aquaman playing off of Torres.

Although I agree he was fantastic tonight, there's been more games where he's been bad than good. Judgement still must be reserved IMO. He has to do what he's done tonight week in week out to justify his price tag, so far he's done it once. He looks a good player no doubt about that but we were playing a side is literally dead and buried.

I really like the guy and hope he plays more often and puts in that kind of display more often but we can't get carried away after his performance tonight. Keep your heads boys
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

He has to be playing to do that...

It's fair to be demanding about a 20M player and give some stick if he doesn't deliver. But what I could never understand was how Aquilani was needing games and Lucas was still playing, we had all the season to suffer him alongside Mascherano.

And I don't like to write this things about a player that looks a good guy and tries, but quite simply, no one has as many chances as he's had in Liverpool.

I understand peoples frustration and anger because they want Aquilani to be Alonso. Or even that they didnt want Alonso to go or would even want him back.
But he is not Alonso.
Surely anyone needs at least ten games before they are given stick. This kid is our best creative midfielder already. To criticise and write him off is not only very very silly, it is also harmful to us. He should be encouraged and given the opportunity to shine. Not be vilified and lambasted if he doesnt play out of skin every game.
He is our best hope of helping Gerrard and Torres get back to the end of last seasons form. Thats how important this kid could be -if he gets the chance...
