Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

For what we paid for him, I think we got a bargain. Sotirios is proving to be well worth it. Probably not top drawer, but looking more and more like a very handy player..... especially (as others have concluded as well) against the more physical teams.

This guy could easily turn into a cult hero if he keeps up his performances form the last 2 games

he's playing better than Skittles at the moment too.

he should be ahead of Skertel in the pecking order.
not sure about Agger though, Agger is our only defender that can bring the ball out of play with composure.
if we have Carra and Kyrgiakos in the same team, would end up bypassing the midfield especially with Carra hoofing the ball up constantly?

In his current form, I would pick him ahead of Carra. While having Agger (someone quick) to cover beside him.

KYRGIAKOS has plugged some of the leaks in the defense but we need good defenders that will be around for years to come not just a quick fix for 1 season.

Mikel San Jose is playing good in Athletic. He played 90 minutes in the other day won vs Real Madrid.

scored a couple goals over there too.  But I think Bilbao will make it a permanent signing as it was part of the contract in the loan agreement. I think 3-4 million Euros. Not bad business because I think we bought him for 500, 000 Euros

Hes only 30, he can be around for 2 seasons after this one easily. He's at his prime as a CB.

I don't think he's good enough to play for us on a consistent basis but he has been a relatively good stop-gap in the last three games.

He's right up Stoke, Blackburn and Bolton's street.

Why dont you think he good enough? He's been Liverpool best player in the last 3 games. This is the first time he was really given a chance to play. Before the game vs stoke, Soto wasnt taken seriously and everyone assumed that he was bad. He had 3 sporadic appearances all season and was decent but no one believed in him. Like any player he needs confidence and needs to settle into a team. As far as I'm concerned this was his first opportunity at Liverpool and he is taken FULL advantage.

In the beginning of the season, I boldly stated that Soto would challenge for top pairing, when everyone pushed him aside saying that he is 4th choice at best. I followed him throughout his career and i knew what he was bringing to the table.

In Goal.com he was Liverpools highest rated player for 3 straight games. Today, he was rated 7 while the 3 otvher backs were at 5.

He's easily the best defender (again) of the day in the Wolves match. Seems to be winning virtually all the aerial ball as long as it drops around him even with a striker or two. Impressive.

He was impressive and since he started to play more regularly we have not been conceding many goals. It is to early to pass any judgements but I can not see why he should be in the first 11 at present.
