I expected us not to waste even £10 on a joke player like him, you guys act like £1 million is pocket change, I can promise you it isn't, if you add up all these well it was only a few million quid players then we could probably have had someone fairly decent in the team.

1. He's not a joke, he is a seasoned international who has played at the highest level for Greece.
2. 1 million IS pocketmoney and to suggest it isnt is plain naive.

Otherwise, great post.

I like Kelly and I think he'll make a good player, Ayala's not a bad player either, but we needed experienced backup (90% of people admitted so at the time). We couldn't afford Turner or Upson, and the Greek seemed to fit the bill.

Who else do you buy for £1.5m and (presumably) average wages?

Sol Campbell on a free (might have had to negotiate on the wages though :D). Could get Parry out of retirement and get him onto it ???.

In hindsight we should have offered Sami a £1m loyalty bonus to stay another season, made him a bit better off and save us a bit in the process.

It is a toughie though, having four CBs is nice in theory but if all fit then two will spend a lot of time out of the first XI and keeping them happy is the trick. I guess we all felt we need four because of Agger's injury history
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

i honestly dont think he played that bad last night apart from the two glaringly obvious mistakes....

maybe darby on the right and keeping carra in the centre would have been more solid.

still the greek is not gonna be our first choice, but we have to rely on back ups right now. Ayala has also been given chances in the first team and not done great...

:D

Possibly, though he is well past it from what I saw of him second half of last season. Plus the wages of course.

He was a fookin bombscare when he played for Glasgow Rangers and I was absolutely shocked when I heard we'd signed him. He has been shown up for what he is....a shockingly bad defender!

With respect mate no he hasn't. If we are going to go out of Europe, drawing away at the group leaders didn't cost us.

Funnily enough, I agree with those who say he wasn't THAT bad. Yes he fecked up on the goal and with the header, but other than that we looked quite solid. I don't think he's good enough, but he wasn't absolutely awful I didn't think.

that's what you get on here though. none of lucas, voronin, krygiakos, ngog etc etc etc are 'awful players who are not fit to wear the shirt'. in each of the games any of these have played i have seen them do good things, and to be fair lucas is even becoming accepted as a useful player now outside of the hardcore lucas hater's club. we need better players than these in the squad if we are going to be able to keep challenging and cover us for when our first teamers get the inevitable injuries, but the flak they get on here is completely out of proportion. and those that insult voronin and krygiakos for having the sheer gall to have a ponytail...  :no

I wonder what they would have said about the players in our seventies team's hair. They all had perms for fecks sake  :D

You are however correct

Have some of that!  If any of you have the game available to watch a second time check out the cross sent in by Masch at about the 87th minute, right after he gets the free kick.  I had to laugh, poor spurs player never knew what hit him.

His contribution was awesome in the match against Spurs, took care of Crouch aerial threat well as well as other defensive duties. Best defender of the day.
