Looks like it's a done deal.

http://www.marca.com/2010/01/07/futbol/equipos/atletico/1262860057.htm

Maxi up to Liverpool. Unless unforeseen absolute latest time, type Molinaro, the Argentine player will become 'red' in the coming hours. The agreement between clubs and is total and nearly a million and a half euros, so the player will be untied completely  ;D  from Atletico, which has campaigned since the campaign in 2005-2006 and who had a contract until 30 June

The proof that Maxi has clear future in the Premier League is the fact that yesterday Maxi announced to the players who shared with him working at Cerro del Espino.

Google translation sorry.

Not see a great deal of him, but from the little I have he looks a very talented player with a good shot.

How old is he ?

his contract finishes in june so he would be free in that time. he is not playing in the last matches and he has not received any new contract offer.

I really hope you are joking,IMO he is one of the worst defenders in the League!
Every time I watch a game he plays in he gets ripped to shreds...fecking terrible player.

I would not have him on a free!

No, he would be a cheap decent (and young) option for us.

Rafa is waiting for Dossenna to seal his move to Napoli, then Maxi is ours, I don't think he will be o bench against Tottenham, maybe we will see him next week. Good player, very happy we bought him and for 1.5m cheap as chips

At least Mascherano may be persuaded to sign a new contract now

Good News for a change

Be interesting to see where he is used in the majority of games as along with Benayoun and Gerrard he can play in any positions of the three behind the main striker.

Rafa Benitez today revealed Liverpool are hoping to sign Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid - but the deal has yet to be completed.

The gaffer told his weekly press conference: "It's true we've talked to Atletico Madrid and we're interested in the player but still it's just conversations.

"You never know with timescales. It's a question of everything being more or less agreed, and now it's for Atletico and the player to talk and see what happens."
