The two raking passes he's made so far seem to have come naturally to him which is a very good sign. The best passing midfielders log where their options are better than most which comes across in the ease of their passing and it does with the Italian. OK, it's only 35 min's of play but the impression I'm left with is that he might be a bit of a cross between Alonso and Rosicky; excellent technique, very intelligent, reasonably nimble and mobile and so overall able to open up the play from a greater range of positions.

Looks like the signs are good on Aquaman but let's not hype him up too much just yet. 2 x camios's suggest he is a decent player but we cannot expect him to make a major impact over the coming week. I think it will be Xmas until he is fully up and running as he will undoubtedly pick up little niggles here and there during his return to full fitness.

Perfect reason why we are masters of our own downfall - yes he made one great pass and tried a overhead kick but any talk of superstar, saviour, better than xabi etc etc etc is far far far too premature - lets not put pressure on him and ourselves to live up to things that people are already labelling him as when he has a poor game etc the labels of shi.t will come flying out .

The lad has had a good encouraging start and hopefully he can push on now and establish himself .

Just maybe 19 minutes isn't long enough to judge but was that 40 yard cross field as good as anything Alonso could do. Ok it might have been 30 yards and he has only got to do it on a very regular basis and he could prove to one of Rafa's best buys if he stays fit. Looked brilliant and very comfortable on the ball. Far more exciting than Xabi but he has got a lot to prove. Early sign looked great.
