LUCAS LEIVA - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

what Lucas can do that Alonso could not that is going to be very interesting (and I'm pretty sure Aquilani can do this too) is that within a game they could easily pop up in Gerrard position and Gerrard drop deep. So if some manager thinks he is pulling a fast one man marking Stevie, all of a sudden you give 'em the 'ol switcheroo and BAM! Lucas is standing unmarked in front of the box with the ball and he can either shoot or play in Torres. :D

Things that Lucas can do that Alonso couldn't:

1) Run faster than 5 miles an hour :D

Again we see scepticism from some people if we get a positive poster.  I thought we had a new start on the forum.  I like Baldricks style and hope he continues.  He argued his point well and didnt get drawn into an argument which is exactly what the not so positive posters said they wanted.  He is happy to get his point across without personal attacks and they were excellent points IMO.

Good post once again taff - as you can see these days it seems your not allowed to talk positive about certain players or even manager without the old "buried head in the sand " or "red blinkers" without getting critised or get accused of being clueless - but then again its always the pros that cause the trouble we keep getting told .

I have been a serious critic of Lucas for so many justifiable reasons. Dirky Kuyt took time to make a position his own and convert the disbelievers. I've always believed in Kuyt and now seen him as a very important team player. Glen and Dirk can do some serious damage down the right wing!

I think it is now time to get behind Lucas. It is a fantastic opportunity for him over the next eight weeks and the fans can make a difference. Let's face it the idiotic boo boys fkd him up mentally when he was finding things tough! Lucas has been making lots of positive overtures and playing as well as anybody pre season. He hasn't got the weight of Alonso on his back. He cost £6m and could be worth a hell of a lot more if his potential is maximised.

LET'S ALL GET OFF HIS BACK INCLUDING ME!
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

I do accept that Lucas has been half decent in pre season, but to be honest I can't help but think if Alonso was still at the club, everybody would still be saying Lucas is not good enough. I think a lot of supporters are just hoping for some form of minor miracle and Lucas to really turn into a quality player this season. I am not a fan by any stretch as quite simply he is not good enough in so many departments its scary and is not in my opinion of the standard to be playing for Liverpool FC, however if by some amazing feat he really comes on this season I would be more than happy to be proved wrong as another poor season from him could be an end to our chances in the League.

^^^

So Lucas plays badly therefore Liverpool lose the league? Ah I understand now, Liverpool fail to win the league and it's all down to one player - Lucas. Complete nonsense.

He's this year's Kuyt - he'll be blamed for everything even if he's man of the match

Yeah but you know what I mean though BM, I am getting bloody tired of these silly statements suggesting that we anti, or to put it more correctly broad and open minded, supporters will gladly criticise someone just for the fun of it. It's a very insulting and incorrect statement. I just want proof where a man of the match player has been criticised on this forum after the match.
