We still need a versatile attacking player to go into the first team, mainly playing on the left wing. Silva or Thierry Henry are ideal to play this role. The Silva talk has gone quiet though.

As for centre backs, I can see the Distin move happening.

Saw Silva playing against united last night and he is an awesome passer but i dont see us signing him.

A couple of pre-season games, a loan spell at a second tier club? They're never going to develop - into Premiership calibre players.

Blooding youngsters is part of the game. A necessary part. Bar Chealsea, the mancs do it, and Arsenal do it all the time.

Where would players like Gerrard and Carra be then if nobody gave them the chance to show what they had?

The point was that you're prioritising developing kids, or trying to develop them by blooding them in the league over results.

If they're good enough they won't need to be "fast-tracked" into the team, no sense weakening the team unless you mean off the bench and look what wonders that has done for Wash and Babel.

And Pach is still like 18 or 19 isn't he? Time just about on his side, when he's proved worthy then give him a starting place. Sounds like you're more obsessed with getting our team full of kids than the best interests of LFC.

You're 'aving a larf re Gerrard and Carra, they were good enough and didn't need the "fast-track" approach you're suggesting. Gerrard was in the team by 18 wasn't he? Can't remember what age Carra made his debut, but a scattergun approach to including our best youngsters on the grounds it might improve them is naive

When Torres was injured post-Keane's sale we used Kuyt up front (which worked only against the shambles of Newcastle) and have since only added Voronin to the attack. We are relying heavily on Torres staying fit for most of the season.

You can't use the argument that we won't buy a striker on the basis that we play 4-2-3-1 either, unless you were asleep for the first half of last season. Keane and Torres played in a two up front, so the intention was there last season to bring in another forward

I don't know why nobody's too keen on Huntelaar... everyone just seems to prefer Wesley Snipes... Huntelaar can be a replacement for Torres and can even play along side him as well... After Aquilani I would try to sign either David Silva or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar...

I guess Rafa seems to think we got enough potent strikers... Owen didn't interest him... and now such a bargain deal with us being very silent...

I tell you what, I was having a conversation with my mate the other day and we were talking about Owen. He was saying that if United could take a gamble on a proven goalscorer with a dubious injury record then what would be the difference if we made a bid for.. wait for it.

Ronaldo.

Unfortunately the guy has recently got injured but he has been banging the goals in back in Brazil. Still an absolutely class finisher though.

nah... Owen has more mileage in him than Ronaldo... Ronaldo has lost his passion... he's won everything and now he's overweight... similar to what happened to Ronaldinho... Owen has a poitn to prove and if he stays fit he'll try everything he can to prove it... and also he wants to be back in the england squad...

i have watched Fat Ronaldo a ton in Brazil. He is still nowhere near being in shape. The Brazilian league is terrible, and very very very slow paced.

Think it was owzat who mentioned this... Instead of buying a striker whoes just going to warm up the bench i'd rather we have someone who could play upfront and in mid. Silva would fit this role im sure or someone in the lines of henry.
