Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says that a transfer fee has been agreed but claims that Kaka's comission and image rights demands are pricing Madrid out of the deal. This was alleged to have been the deal-breaker for Manchester City too. It seems that Kaka does have a price, one that is deliberately prohibitive or rather gives him total control.

A more affordable and realistic prospect for Madrid is Diego Forlan, who is expected to leave Atletico but was being touted as Barcelona's next signing. Barca will only buy him if they sell one or both of Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o. Madrid will pay £32m while Barca will offer £22m plus the loans of Bojan and Martin Caceres. Madrid also fancy Porto's Bruno Alves at a whopping £27m.

Manchester City's cash-waving antics have scuppered Real Madrid's bid for Liverpool's Xabi Alonso. Rafael Benitez would have sold him had he been able to sign Gareth Barry but refused to give the England midfielder £130,000 a week, so Alonso will now stay (Daily Mail).

Torres wrote:"Liverpool are said to have made an offer of £15 million along with striker [Andriy] Voronin.

In light of the money being paid for top players - Kaka, Ribery, Tevez supposedly now at 32m etc.. does anyone seriously think we'll pick up Silva for 15 + Voronin?

We wont get him for a penny less than 25, just you see.  He's probably worth it......

I reckon £15 million plus Babel and Voronin should do it. Remember that Voronin has had a very impressive season in Germany and Babel might be fairly well suited for the Spanish game. They must combined be worth about £12 million

Yeah but they need to make as much money as possible so they are obviously going to start a bidding war. And with Madrid spending silly money this summer I don't think we are in with a serious shout with that sort of bid.

The only good thing is Real are unlikely to pursue there 25m Euro purchase of David Silva.
