Johnson Heading To Anfield?

According to reports today, Liverpool are closing in on Middlesbrough Adam Johnson.

Anfield boss Rafa Benitez has a number of targets this summer, but the Boro wideman "really excites the Spaniard", if you believe the newspaper.

Johnson has turned down the offer of a new contract and has only 12 months to run on his current deal.

Yeah the league will be much tuffer the coming season.. We should rip all big 4 apart and also take care of the draws we concede.. i think 90+ points wont guarantee us 1st..

Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi has moved to quell talk of a move to Liverpool amid speculation linking him with a summer switch to Anfield.

Rafa Benitez is expected to bolster his striking options in the close-season and the name of Argentine hit-man Lavezzi has demanded its fair share of column inches.

Lavezzi moved to Napoli in the summer of 2007 and caught the eye last season with a series of bright displays and seven goals in Serie A.

Although Napoli finished in 12th place last term, in what was a disappointing campaign, Lavezzi remains committed to the cause and has no intention of seeking a move to the Premier League.

"Liverpool's offer? I want to stay at Napoli," he said.

"I hope everything will be made clear but it depends on the club not on me.

"I reiterate that my wish is to remain at Napoli."

The 24-year-old is under contract with Napoli until June 2012.

Doesn't look like he wants to leave Napoli.

And for all that talent surely he could score more than seven goals
in a season

The rumours about Johnson have been going round for quite a while up here now. If you believe what you hear he's apparently been tracked by us, United and Arsenal over the last few years.

yep, he's unaware of any offer been made but Benitez has been in touch recently. Also, real madrids scout has been over and some fk'r from scumchester has enquired too. I can tell ya now it's between LFC and mancs. He has no alleagence to either team as he is a die hard North East lad but the fact is while it's always been his dream to play for his beloved Boro, the fact remains that if he wants to further his career he has to move to a big club. but between you lot and me he's Liverpool bound if Benitez was to make the call.
