Lavezzi, the agent 'Napoli has not kept its promise'

17:54 del 30 maggio

alessandro cuomo/grazia neri

Alejandro Mazzoni is becoming, in spite of himself, the protagonist of the Italian market. Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Lavezzi's manager once again condemned the conduct of Napoli: "Napoli has not kept the promises it made to Lavezzi. I have been waiting since Sunday for a call from Pierpaolo Marino to have a meeting with the president, so it's a little difficult for us to know what Napoli wants. I would like to say to the fans that I have always been available to the Director and that the last time I saw him, I talked about a bid for Lavezzi by a foreign club. The President, however, has said nothing, he did not respond.

Liverpool? I am not the Fifa agent authorized to speak, but I can say that the offer is real and that Marino did not accept it. What matters, however, is the relationship with Naples and at present there is no type of relationship. The director Marino had promised a contract adjustment, but then they did nothing. Today there is an important offer for the player and the club and I have the impression that Napoli wants to sell him. I would like to say that Naples, for Lavezzi, is very important, but we are talking about an English club that plays in the Champions League and, moreover, offers a salary three times higher. Footballers are not slaves, they are people. You can buy a player, but not his will. The percentage that Lavezzi will remain at Napoli will depend only on the club".

--------------------------------------------------------------

basically if you cant be bothered reading all that... his agent just admitted that Liverpool put in a bid for him, and that Lavezzi would be interested in the move if the clubs can agree terms.. im guessing he could very well put out a transfer request if our interest in him is serious... lets hope its not, and he doesnt...

with some of the names we've been linked with so far I really hope Rafa knows what he's doing this summer

I know the Sunday papers traditionally publish sh!te but if Chelsea and City are going to splash the cash like they're implying then we need to sign the right people this summer, non of this fringe player b0llocks, straight imporvements where needed, surely its that simple...surely...
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

JFT 96 - Gone but never forgotten
YNWA 15/4/1989
God Bless You All

It all depends on how much Rafa gets to spend. If he gets a lot then he will go for proven quality but if not then he has to go for 2nd choice.

Lavezzi has one of the best combinations of pace and technical ability that I have seen in any of the major European leagues (certainly behind, Pato, Ronaldo, Eto'o, Messi, and Torres, but not many others)

It would be like signing David Silva, only Lavezzi is more versatile because he can also play up top in a 4-4-2. I would be really happy if we brought in Lavezzi

Lavezzi isnt a bad player.. i think he isnt as good as you make him out to be Joe but a good player nonetheless, good enough to be a 25mill target for Liverpool ? dont think so....  if we're going to spend that much or a little more on one player i'd rather it be a proven world class player who will improve our current setup, or one who would force us to change our setup to have him in the side... im not sure Lavezzi fits either bill, sure we can always throw him  down the wing and he'd do a job but i dont think hes worth that much to be honest... not with us working under a tight budget and needing players who would provide us with immediate impact

I think 25 million would be too much as well, but I would be fine with 20 (I think that our original bid was 19) I think he would start immediately on the left, and if there were injuries he could fill in for Gerrard, Kuyt, or Torres.  I think that a Lavezzi purpose would surely spell the end of Babel because they would fill the same roles on the team (be a pacey wing option, play on the left while being capable of playing on the right or as a striker)

Someone like Silva would have a lot of the same questions on if they could make it in England, although there are no questions about Lavezzi's pace, where as you could ask that of Silva. Also Silva could only play in the three positions behind Torres, and I think would cost more.

We also seem to have competitors with bigger pockets that are interested in Silva and Tevez, I don't know of anybody else with much interest in Lavezzi right now.

But the main point that I want to make is that I would be happy with almost all the people we are bing linked with and I don't think that Lavezzi should be written off as a 2nd class signing if we sign him

Lavezzi just turned 24, but I owe it all to my DVR machine, and the American football season being so short.

owen anyone? i kno how he looked last couple of months of the prem, but he scored somethin like 25 goals in 55 games for newcastle! imagine if he played those 55 games for a team with players that can actually pass a ball! surely worth a gamble from rafa just in case he shakes off his injuries? plus hes made it no secret in the past that anfield is where his heart is .... could be bargain of the summer
