If it comes down to personal choice he'd choose Liverpool. :p

I'd be surprised if Boro let both him and Downing go.

He's a strange one for me as he looks great every time i see him, i mentioned the goal against ecuador for the u21's in another thread, cracking volley.
But he doesnt always play for Boro yet, so that much money for us might be too much.

Like the look of him though.

funny thing that cos his Dad has had loads of arguements with Southgate over Adam. Wanting to know why he doesn't pick him regular. He has respect for Southgate but his dad hates the fecker.

southgate needs his head testing cos he's got a North East lad with the heart and passion for that club and he wont play him?

Leicester to make bid for Liverpool's Hobbs - 30.03.09

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson hopes to sign permanently on-loan Liverpool defender Jack Hobbs.
The Sunday Mercury says Hobbs, aged 20, has been a big hit at the Walkers Stadium this season as the Foxes bid to return to the Championship. His first-team prospects would appear to be slim if he returned to Anfield. Leicester are set to try and push through a £400,000 deal at the end of the season.

Man City compete with Liverpool for Real Madrid's Robben - 30.03.09

Manchester City are chasing Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben. The People says former Chelsea winger Robben, 25, would cost at least £16million - £8m less than Real paid two seasons ago - when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.  Real Madrid will have a firesale of stars - including Robben - as they plan to fund a new bid for AC Milan star Kaka. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is also keen on Robben, though the Dutchman's performance at Anfield in the Champions League has given him second thoughts.

Liverpool boss Benitez ready to join Eto'o battle  - 30.03.09

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is monitoring Samuel Eto'o's situation at Barcelona.El Mundo Deportivo says Benitez would love to partner Fernando Torres in attack with Eto'o next season. Benitez is convinced he has the backing of Liverpool's owners should Barca decide to put Eto'o up for sale as they sweat on opening talks over a new contract.

HATCHET MAN- Barrys Anfield switch will end up with him playing full back.  30 Mar 2009

Gareth Barry looks almost certain to join Liverpool in the summer - and it promises to be a one way road to disaster.
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has said he will not stand in the midfielder's way if his club don't qualify for the Champions League.
With only a year left on his contract Villa would have little choice if Barry doesn't sign a new deal, and with the club willing to sell Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez can call the shots.

That should give him Barry at a much reduced price to the ludicrously inflated fee of £16 million quoted last summer and will, apparently, also leave the player with a significantly weaker hand.
Benitez has finally conceded that Xabi Alonso is a good central midfielder and reportedly wants Barry as a utility player (ie not first choice), playing wide and even as a full-back at times.

Yeah, and its not as if they are doing well without him in the side is it  :D
He is probably unfortunate that he plays in the same position as Downing, i am sure when Downing goes Johnson will then play alot more.

I've read rumours today that we're after Eto'o in the summer aswell. Absolute nonsense if you ask me. Brilliant talent but he's about as far removed from a Rafa type player as you could get.

He's doing really well too this season. Can't see why Guardiola would want to see him go. Then again maybe he himself would want a change of scenery.

Eto'o wouldnt fit in with Rafa, the scouse way of life or our style of extremely disciplined football. Italy would be a better home for him.

Couldnt see Eto at all as a liverpool player.

And his form this season has been great so he wouldnt come cheap and they might not even be interested in selling him anyway.

Not a chance of him coming imo.

I think he could buy himself out of his contract

So many reasons why i dont think Rafa would get him, style of play, his questionable attitude etc.

Could you imagine how he would react if he was rested or asked to play in a different position - and we know Rafa would probably do that at some point.

Just cant see it at all.

He is a very talanted player but he is one of those players like mentioned above, has a massive ego.

Both Eto and Robben are great players with massive ego.. Their ego can sometimes destroy the unity in our team.. I think Huntelaar would be a better option..but not possible  :( He is a target man would compliment torres very well upfront
