I disagree. Valencia haven't paid wages for the past 2 months and I suspect are in a position where they will be forced to sell a lot more than Silva and Villa.

Yea, some saying that we might get him for as little as 8m? Any ideas why we'd get him on the cheap??

I think it's almost inevitable that Rafa will be back in for him come the summer. He gives us options regards left back, left midfield and central midfield.

For 8M he would be a great buy and I would have no problems with us going for him but as long as he is not coming into the squad at the expense of either Xabi or Masch. As you say he is very versatile so hopefully he can come in and fill a number of positions as and when needed.

I don't think Villa will get 4th place now. They have run out of steam after having been running at full pace for so long. If and when Barry does come if it is indeed for as little as 8Mil, MON will be left looking like a right idiot for not taking the 15Mil last season.

Rafa Benitez: Liverpool Did Enquire About Valencia's David Silva

The Spaniard admits the Reds asked about the Spanish winger, but says they will not sign him or his team-mate David Albiol...
28 Mar 2009 15:13:18

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has revealed that he did make an approach for Valencia winger David Silva, but has opted not to pursue that cause after being quoted €32 million (£30m).

The Reds boss had recently stated, flatly, that the Spanish international will not be arriving at Anfield, but it seems that he had attempted to engineer a deal after all.

"It is true that we were asking about the situation with him but we are not happy with the situation now and he will not be a target for us," Benitez told The Liverpool Echo.

"We have to work hard and we are trying to have conversations and trying to progress, but it’s not easy to sign any player now.

"The most important thing now is to make progress with the contracts of our own players. We are working hard on that because this is our priority."

It had also been suggested that fellow Los Che and Spain star Raul Albiol might end up at Anfield this summer, but Benitez denies this.

"He is another good player, but he is not our target," concluded the Liverpool coach.

Is that typo on that first line? I thought his name was Raul Albiol. Unless they meant David Villa in which case that would still be a type. :D

PS I read today that Daniel Sturridge is available on a free at the end of this season. He would be worth a look in imo.

£30m for Silva is a pisstake! are they crazy?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I mentioned a few weeks ago that a mate of mine plays for Boro, Adam Johnson. Well, after his England U21 game last week I spoke to him over the weekend and he has revealed to me that Glasgow Rangers, Liverpool and ManU have all approached Boro looking to sign him. ManU and Liverpool offered just under £10 million for him. He's a die hard north east lad though but if Boro go down he's too good to be playing in the lower leagues.

If it comes down to personal choice he'd choose Liverpool. :p

He's a strange one for me as he looks great every time i see him, i mentioned the goal against ecuador for the u21's in another thread, cracking volley.
But he doesnt always play for Boro yet, so that much money for us might be too much.

Like the look of him though.
