We should really make more of an effort to get a hold of these kinds of players. Utd manage it all the time, Arsenal too to some extent but yet we always seem to get the ones who end up shyte.

i agree. would rather we buy Phenoms like Pato or Aguero instead of Lucas or Babel and a dozen projects.

I have a mate who plays for Middlesboro, Adam Johnson, he can play either wing and this season he really seems to have stepped up a gear. Real MAdrid are watching him closely at the moment. Glasgow rangers have already tried to lure him to Ibrox.

young lad with some real potential.
21 years old
England U21 int.
scored a peacher against man u in cup

go get him Rafa.

Havent seen that much of him but his goal for the under 21's the other night was amazing, dinked the ball over the defenders head with his left foot then smashed a volley with his right back accross goal into keepers left hand top corner.

makes a mockery of boro's decision to turn down £15m for downing when they've got this kid as a natural replacement. for £15m boro could have brought bullard, beattie and eagles for example. at least that might have given them a better chance of staying up.

never makes sense to me when the media applaudes managers at small clubs for holding onto their star players.  This can only be judged in hindsight just like whether a signing was good or not. I watched on Sky as they practically sucked Big Sam's c.ock after he refused to sell Santa Cruz. Well, the only way to judge on whether it was the right decision or not is if the team stays up.  Its not like these small clubs get nothing in return for selling their best players. They get cash that they can they use to strengthen more than one area, balancing out the team.

Roma lock horns with Liverpool over Keirrison

Liverpool’s attempts to sign highly-rated Palmeiras striker Keirrison de Souza could be in jeopardy after reports in Italy claimed that Roma were heading the queue for the player’s signature. Speculation has risen recently after sport.co.uk broke the story that Rafael Benitez tried to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield on deadline day as a late replacement for outgoing striker Robbie Keane. (To see the story, click here.)

LaRoma24.it now claims that the Stadio Olimpico outfit are very eager to add the youngster to the eight Brazilians already in their first team squad.

Keirrison’s contract situation is far from simple with Coritiba Football Club claiming a 20% stake in the player while Brazil-based agency Traffic Sports own the other 80%. Traffic are one of a growing brand of companies snapping up local Brazilian talent before loaning them to high-profile South American clubs where their clients can showcase their talents before being snapped up by richer European sides.

Palmeiras are hoping that the partnership can be put into good use regarding Keirrison with Vice President Gilberto Cipullo revealing that the first team coach has already fast-tracked the youngsters development.

“Our coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, has told me that he has a project revolving around Keirrison,” Cipullo is quoted as saying.

“His plan is to make Keirrison the best football player in Brazil and he [the player] clearly has the qualities to realise this ambition. We will do our best to achieve this target and, consequently, cash in on the player.

“We received offers of around €15 million during last summer’s transfer window, but, instead of selling him now, we will keep hold of him until next year. We will get up to €35m out of his sale.”

Keirrison scored 54 goals in 100 games for Coritiba before making his move to Palmeiras and has since gone on to score 8 times in 6 games this year.
