Also watched "The Wrestler" which is getting a lot of hype over Mickey Roukes performance. His performance was good but not that good and the movie itself was pretty average. 6/10

Yeah The Wrestler was not that great at all, very dissapointing. 6/10  Slumdog was an excellent movie though 9/10.

I read the reviews for this when it came out and everyone was pretty mean, particularly about Emile Hirsh. So I forgot about it. Then it came on Sky movies.
This is possibly the best film I have seen in the last 10 years or more. Everything is almost perfect. The acting, the script, the directing. the soundtrack...everything. From Hirsh to Keener, Vaughan to Halbrook, I honestly could not say a bad word about it. One of the most moving films I have ever seen. Watch it.

I'd recommend this one too, was shocked that Emile Hirsch could actually act. 8.5/10

Anyone seen Elite Squad (aka Tropa de Elite) yet? It's by the same guys who wrote City of God and imo it's as good if not better. It's about B.O.P.E, a crack police force who work in slums in Rio.

Check out the trailer. PS Im not sure why the trailer narrator is American as the whole film is in Portugese it just makes it sound :censored: imo but anyway the film is ace. 10/10.

Slumdog Millionaire" is up for 10 Oscar nominations. The movie got the second highest number of nominations, including best director for Danny Boyle, best picture and two of the three song slots.

Its doing quite well

Quite funny movie, but Clint looks ninety. Good send up of his cowboy persona and a cracking ending.

Just back from seeing Valkyrie

This is Tom cruises new film about a plot to kill Hitler during WW2 by his own men. I read some mixed reviews about it but i enjoyed it and although I knew the outcome it was still a good thriller throughout. The only problem I had was that there was no Germans accents, Cruise played a German yet spoke with a American accent and there were plenty more Germans with strong British accents

7.5/10

Yes, it was a solid effort, mate.  I know what you're saying about the accents and it's a bit of a catch 22.  Good German accents would have lent to the atmosphere but bad accents would have killed it.  So, I like the little device the used in the first scene to move past the whole language issue. :nod
