1) The tw@t refused to give Rafa a chance when he first came to the club
2) The Dipstick went to Newcastle instead of coming back when he had the chance
3) Injuries
4) Never go back
For the record, I think Heskey will be an even worse signing.

Yet some still view these with a distrust. If we spend say £4m on Owen in January and he scores only five or six goals that won't be a complete disaster. We've wasted money before, it's not as if Dossena has sorted out the LB problem at £7m, that Keane has sorted the goals problem at £20m or Babel has cemented a starting role at £11.5m. So why not take a relatively small (risk) gamble on a player who is already a Liverpool legend? Must be a hate thing

spot on Leon mate![]()
i don't want owen back as a matter of principle! feck the price,he doesn't ever deserve to wear the famous red shirt again.
as for heskey -feck that tw@t,just the thought of him coming back here makes my blood boil.
by the way fo feck face, insult people -expect it back!
your fecking stupid topic starter has been done before,so for someone who thinks he knows it all, for once listen to what other people on this forum post,& accept that your the tw@t for even thinking owen is worthy to play for us again, after he shafted us in the first place.

Has anyone here been in the Newcastle boardroom when his price has been agreed ?
Didnt think so.

Seems pretty reasonable to assume the price for a player entering the final 6 months of his contract and also injury-prone will be a fair bit cheaper than the £18 million Newcastle shelled out for him.
john craig wrote:Owen is definitely one of the players we should be looking at in January (if we have any money at all that is).
Other players we should be taking into consideration imo are:
Valencia
Guttierez (quality imo - I know he isn't long signed for Newcastle though)
Martins
Gudjohnson (cu.nt but a good player)
Heinze
Tuncay (very underrated imo)
Eboue (not long on his contract, far from flavour of the month at Arsenal, but still quality when actually played in his best position, which is right back)
Benny McCarthy (Out of the team at Blackburn, but has proved can score goals in the Premiership and could be a decent short term signing)
A controversial list, but we have to be fairly realistic. Personally I don't think Rafa will be allowed to bring anyone in unless he sells. Ideally he'd like to offload Pennant I reckon. If he doesn't then I can't see us getting anyone. Despite his injuries and the history I have to agree Owen would probably be the best deal we could hope for in January, but he would have to take a massive wage cut and I just can't see it.

Well don't tell me Owen regularly gets better service playing up front for that shower of no hopers than our strikers get at Liverpool. Cast iron, guaranteed goals for a ridiculously low fee. No brainer for me. The priority is winning the title and he would improve our chances of doing so.

Well considering the service to our front men is next to non-existant I would say yes Owen has had better service.
Maybe we still need a creative player rather than a six yard box player.
The reason Torres has been so good for us is he scores and creates for his self, how many chances was Kuyt given in the last match? How many does Keane get in an average game?
Not many.
