To a large extent I don't agree with them Mick. Owen scored a lot of vital goals for this club while he was here, saw the opportunity to better himself (as this club looked as if it was going no where fast)and took it. He wanted to come back but WE WERN'T WILLING/ABLE TO MATCH NEWCASTLES OFFER TO REAL MADRID.

I really can't understand why some would cut off their nose to spite their face over Owen. Argue he is injury prone, not good enough, wouldn't suit our style of play etc, but moaning about why he left and why he didn't come back, when they either don't know the full story or maybe don't want to know seems a bit silly to me.

He is not the first footballer that made a bad choice, and he wont be the last. If we get the opportunity to get him back for basically peanuts we should grab it with both hands.

Admittedly he his not the player he was, but he is still a clinical finisher with great movement and the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time. He would get goals for us and if anything is going to cost us this season........ its lack of goals!

If Rafa chooses not to go for him, I am sure it will be a football based decision...... not a petulant one.

But aren't we allowing less important things to cloud our judgement here? We've already drawn is it three games at Home 0-0. Now if an Owen or indeed anyone else can find a goal in one or two of those games, it could mean the difference between us winning the title and not. It wouldn't be a massive consolation to me should we finish two or three points off the pace to know that we fecked Owen off and that he had to sign a contract with Chelsea instead of us.

Yes he's been a little t0sser in the past, but now is the time, I think anyway, to put such things aside. All that said, if we can find someone else for a comparable fee who is as good, then feck him lets sign them instead :D .

In case anyone has forgot we still have Nando to come back - he has been known to score a goal or two

I have never said he would win us the league mate. All I said was he will score goals, which to me isn't too outlandish a statement. Whether WE WOULD WIN THE LEAGUE IS DOWN TO MORE THAN ONE PLAYER, although I am sure his goals would help.

I presume he would score goals because he has done so throughout his career, in bad Liverpool sides and good , in top teams and at Newcastle. In big matches both home and away.

we're already top of the league, are you saying "cutting off our noses" is something other than winning the league?

Voted No.

He won't get through 3 months of football without an injury. Will be Harry Kewell all over again till he's 33 .. sitting on the sidelines for vast parts of the season, silently earning wages while not contributing.

While I'd like to believe that he can be injury free, his record speaks for itself.

He is definitely a darn good player, but his loyalties are rather messed up at the moment. I doubt he can take to sitting on the bench either. His England dream is in tatters at the moment and he needs to be playing as the main striker on some random EPL team to resurrect it. It won't happen if he comes to LFC.

Maybe when he's 33, Rafa might bring him back for 6 months - for sentimental reasons :D

Spurs, the bitters or villa will sign him, I wouldnt be supprised if no one comes in during the window unless we sell.
If R Madrid are really willing to offer 15m for Babel I`d snap their arm off.
