Rafael Benitez refused hospital treatment when his car he was involved in smash at set of traffic lights after he left a squad training session.

The Anfield boss suffered "slight whiplash" when another driver crashed into the back of his BMW as he was stationary at a red traffic light in the Tuebrook area of Liverpool.

The Spaniard was heading home from the club's Melwood Training Ground when the incident happened on West Derby Road at its junction with Green Lane.

Benitez was waiting at traffic lights in his black BMW X damage when it was hit from behind by another car at traffic lights.

Both vehicles suffered minor damage and after exchanging insurance details with the woman driver of the other car the soccer manager continued his journey home to Caldy, Wirral.

On the following morning Mr Benitez reported for work as normal at Melwood.

I wouldn't be surprised if sammy lee has one of his old sales team head sets on linked up to Benitez as Rafa is sat off in bed watchihng the game or even  better the whole team has them on listening to his instructions.
