Well with the amount of airtime you have given it one would never know.

I'm having a bet here and now that somebody in all seriousness makes the claim before too much longer that far from cutting down on rotation, Rafa actually still rotates just as much as he used to but he now does it "in game" through substitutions rather than through selecting different line-ups
.
The claim will be followed up with the "so you see our being top of the league with our best start in history is nothing to do with rotation or lack thereof" chestnut. "In game rotation", least i can go to bed with a smile on me face thinking of that one, classic

I'm happy you have joined the "I go to bed with a smile" brigade, I've been doing that with some views the last 4 years!
Probably the best way we have to laugh about this issues is to pick the minutes played by every key player, compare them to the previous season and see whether the difference is big. And then yes, laugh freely.
But surely Bigmick, you can't think Igor or me wrote that to say that we were right all along or you were right. Myself, I wrote that because I think that not every time that a player has been subbed it's been due to a tactical reason or a bad performance reason.
No more, no less than that. Meaning, don't panic, nobody is denying the "he has seen the light" statement
bigmick wrote:Bob you miss my point. The suggestion that rather than rotate the team willy nilly, you instead win games first then take star players off is as old as the hills. Similarly, the idea that you qualify comfortably from the Champions League group and THEN rotate, or establish momentum in the league and THEN rotate is something I have been banging on about for the best part of four seasons. Wait until players are actually tired, and THEN rotate etc etc, it all makes perfect sense to me.
Posters such as yourself, Igor and Sabre have made perfect sense to me all along to be perfectly honest, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. The debate has been light hearted, enlightening (even I am ever so slightly more pro-rotation than I was at the outset of the debate four seasons ago) and generally a good one.
There are others however who haven't conducted themselves as sensibly as that, no doubt on both sides. This why I predicted that somebody will claim that "in game rotation" is just the same as normal rotation and therefore there has been no "seeing of the light", and in fact any claim from anti-rotationers that they possibly may have had something of a valid point all along is utter hogwash. Someone will claim it before long, you mark my words.
It's the same reason you have to put disclaimers on posts, "I'm not saying we should play the same team in every single game", "I'm not saying that the only reason we are top of the league is becasue we are rotating less" etc etc etc. If you don't, then you get swarmed over by numpties who want to talk about what you do for a living, where you live, how often you've been to the match, your political persuasion, your choice of wife etc etc and it stops being fun anymore. They even quote your discalimers in an attempt to stir a reaction as you see on this page.
Posters such as yourself, Igor and Sabre are in an entirely different bracket to such contributors, and as such get a totally different reaction. It is completely beyond my human frailty though to avoid the temptation to laugh in the face of these "other" people. They were 100% wrong with a flashing light neon sign, dished out abuse of an unnecessary nature, and with every victory for the team, each passing week when we are in the title race they end up looking further and further into the abyss of total wrongness. When you see posts like the one on this page (four before your one), they deserve nothing more or less than a smile![]()
They accused me of being happy when we lost. Claimed I wouldn't be seen or heard when we won, I "wasn't a true fan" despite the fact I've supported the club for 37 of my 42 years. And now, the funniest and best bit of all is, it is them who are never seen or heard. We are rotating nowhere near as much and are top of the league and they've disappearedAbsolutely poetic.
Still it's my own fault. If you post longer, they don't read them as they find it too "boring". Similarly, if you actually talk about football they don't comment, as they never talk about football on a football forum either (probably too boring as well). I must make a note for next time to avoid them stalking me.

Thanks Mick
Ahh, I see it now Mick--it was a pre-emptive strike rather than a reaction to what's already been posted. Time for a new disclaimer then, mate. Something along the lines of, "THE ABOVE COMMENTS DO NOT APPLY TO SABRE, IGOR AND BOB, SAINT AND BAM WHO TALK SENSE."

Cheers Mick.
