our relationship with boro is poor anyway, ever since we f#cked them over with the ziege transfer.

Ziege had a buy out clause, but no one was supposed to know that.

We somehow knew he had a buy out clause and offered to buy him for exactly the amount of his clause. Boro' didn't want to sell him but we bought him anyway.

Boro' wern't happy as they had supposedly had bids much higher than the £5million or so bid we made.

I think we finished up being fined , but not until after Ziege made a swift exit to Spurs.

Than you must be blind , did you see how he took on players? His crosses have led to goals and he scored a couple of good goals . Maybe its the clarity of the video .

The Kop turns to Boro’s Downing after Espanyol price out Riera.

August 20, 2008
According to Foxsports.com, Liverpool look set to renew their interest in Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing after Espanyol demanded £16 million for Albert Riera.

Having seemingly failed to buy Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, the Reds were hoping to buy Riera for around a alleged £9 million, but the Spanish club has reportedly invoked a £16 million release clause for the winger.

Riera’s agent, Magico Diaz, told the Liverpool Echo: “Liverpool want Riera but are reluctant to meet Espanyol’s demands.”

That means that Liverpool is instead likely to turn back to the 24-year old English international, who could be available for a more realistic £12 million.

Downing is now Middlesbrough’s longest serving player after the departure of Mark Schwarzer this summer to Fulham and is naturally a left sided player.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh why cant we ever do things normally!

I want this player for this price, this is how we pay for him.

Ok done.

Its simple.

Downing? Ahh go on then. But expect exactly the same from Boro as to what happened with Villa, but less extreme.

So we're now looking at players of dubious quality because they're easier to buy?

So once again we and rafa have to make do with a third choise player. If there is 18m in the kitty why cant it be spent how rafa see's fit?

Albert Reira is not good enough.  Would he get into any of our rivals sides? No.  Its a bit of worry if now alternitives to Barry are being considered.

If we can't get the 1st choice players, then we can only dream of a 1st choice placing in the league. sigh...:(

I#m getting p.1ssed off with all this, everytime we go for a player we end up pulling out cos the other team wants too much, this doesnt seem to be a problem for the Mancs, Chelsea or Arsenal so why is it for us? also it's the same old story that we are trying to do deals a week before the deadline, I thought we had learnt from this.

If you ask me I blame Rick Parry cos the guy couldn't organise a p.1ss up in a brewery! :(
