Where - in any online or offline reputable source - can any of these be substantiated ?

Farkin' hell....let the new season begin, and sooner rather than later !

(BTW - I didn't get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning, my wee fella is teething and I'm cranky and grumpy.....got nowhere else to rant   )

this is the rumour thread mate, not the guaranteed news of definate transfers thread

none of it has to be substantiated

Personally I'd prefer to see Silva arrive than Villa. Our success at the back end of last season came from having a settled formation with Torres as the spear head. From the Euros it appeared that Torres changed his game to accomodate Villa. For Liverpool you would not want to alter Torres style (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) by changing the formation. If Silva came in it would give us another wing option and another playmaker option (to play second striker). IF you imagine a midfield and strike force of -

              Torres
Silva                           Babel
        Barry        Gerrard
           Mascherano

That looks pretty good to me :)

That formation looks spot on to me, Babel on the right as well so he doesn't have to use his weaker foot, I will be happy if the only other Transfer for us this summer is Silva.

Thats exactly the formation and team ive been dreaming of since i heard we were interested in barry and silva. we dont have a single weakness in that team and are stronger than arsenal and arguably chelsea and man utd.

Also match winners would be:

Babel
Gerrard
Torres
Barry
Silva                             We'd never loose!

Super subs:

Benny
Kuyt
Pennant
Vorronin - Ok i know but he actually plays alright when he's fit.
Skrtel

I get a hard on just thinking about how domanent we'd be with those players.

Dont you notice how much we dominate every match we play in literally every match for at least 70 mins h/a. With this team we could score like 4 goals every game and compete against the other 3.

Problem is is the olympics. Babel, machy and leiva at least so that sucks. so we defo need silva and barry now

Rafa Keane on Spurs ace

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has revealed his interest in signing Robbie Keane, but has ruled out a move for David Villa.

Benitez is in the market for striking reinforcements with Peter Crouch on the verge of a move to Portsmouth and has been linked with moves for Tottenham star Keane and Valencia hit-man Villa.

Keane's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Spurs would listen to offers for the Republic of Ireland international.

Villa has been a long-term target for Benitez, but the former Valencia boss admits it is unlikely the Reds will be signing the Euro 2008 top scorer.

"I said the other day that he is one of the names we had on our list, but I can say at this moment that it is not an option for us," said Benitez.

"We know Villa is a very good player, we know the price and we know the players we have, so when you consider everything we decided he was one of the names, but at this moment, not our target.

"Keane is one of the other names and okay we are still working with other names. We were in contact and we will see now."

And we could be the next Leeds United, too...

Benitez promises big name striker signing                   Thursday, July 10, 2008

Rafael Benitez has promised there will be at least one new big-name striker at Liverpool before the start of the season but admits he has no idea when the Gareth Barry saga will be concluded.
The Liverpool boss has admitted his exasperation at the drawn-out campaign to prise Barry from Aston Villa, which shows no sign of ending.

And the Spaniard has also revealed the growing financial problems he is having in the transfer market.

He admits that Tottenham skipper Robbie Keane is a target, but although he is also a big fan of Valencia and Spain striker David Villa, a move seems unlikely.

Benitez admitted: "We know the situation regarding what we can spend, and we are tying to find solutions if we do not have enough money.

"And we will still try to sign players that will make us better. But if you do not have too much money, and that is clear, we will have to have a little bit of imagination to progress in the market.

"Everyone knows what our ideas are and what players we want. We are working hard with different names now, and at the moment that is not (David) Villa.  "We will have another main striker before the season starts, maybe two."

Shocking headline considering one of the quotes they left out is about Rafa saying that it might not be a name that we know about.

Liverpool echo:

Liverpool have two offers on the table from rival Premiership clubs for Carson, who is keen to quit the Reds after spending last season on loan at Aston Villa, and Benitez is happy to do business.
