Selling them is the best thing that could happen to them, and I hope he stays.  120 mil added to Manchesters summer bank account could make things bad fast.

I know this is nothing to do with our rumour mill so please dont hunt me down and destroy me Debo...i mean misty :D

But why is mu losing there star player a bad thing  ???

No matter how much money they get, they have to replace him with someone with similar ability and who could make the team be able to play in the same defensive counter attacking way.

Name me that player...no matter how much money ?

a good amount of their team is getting older and they could shore it all up sharpish with a whole new generation with the ronaldo money

Eh ?

They dont have an old team at all mate, there are a couple of players like Scholes and Giggs getting on, possibly Van der Sar, but the rest of the team are not old at all.

Also Ferguson hasnt exactly been hampered in the transfer market as it is, after winning the league 2 seasons ago, he went out and spent 17 million apiece on Nani and Anderson a similar amount on Hargreaves and brought in Tevez who will be on really high wages.
Getting shedloads of money for Ronaldo is neither here nor there, replacing there star player. The player who allows the team to play the way they do is another.
I cant see any player that they could sign that could replace him.
They would have to change the way the play imo if they lose him.
It could only be a good thing for us and any other rival team if he goes to Madrid.

Zenit - Arshavin wants to leave  - Russian star set for exit
Last updated: 21st June 2008

Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat has confirmed that Andrei Arshavin wants to leave the club.

The Russian star had a brilliant domestic campaign last season helping Zenit to the league title and Uefa Cup.

Arshavin only added to his reputation when he starred in Russia's final Euro 2008 group game - after being suspended for start of the tournament - against Sweden as scored the winner in the 2-0 triumph.
The 27-year-old is being tracked by clubs from Italy, Spain, France, Germany and England - with the likes of Newcastle, Manchester City, Everton and more recently Arsenal said to be interested.
Now Advocaat has confirmed that Arshavin want to move to one of Europe's biggest leagues.

"Andrei has told us that he wishes to change clubs," Advocaat told reporters on Friday.

"At present, in the way of offers, it is quiet.

"The situation may well change after the game against Holland for the national side."

what evidence do you have that we are skint, Man Utd are in a far worse financial situation than we are. I am fairly certain Rafa will have enough money to but some good players this transfer season. Arshavin would be a fantastic buy as would most of the Russian players, except their defence ;-). Arshavin is owned by Abramovich so will go to Chavski if they want him and why would they not.

If someone gets this lad for 10 million quid this summer it'll be the crime of the century.  Every minute he plays for Russia this Euro his value ratchets up.  He's top drawer and anyone that didn't recognize that before the competition started will know it now.  There will be a bidding war for this fella and, sadly, I can't see us being involved in it. :no

Yes he's kind of got that way about him that he's involved in all the good stuff. One things for sure, whoever they play in the semi's be it the Italians or the Spanish will spend pretty much all the defensive side of their build up working out how to mark him out of it. You can't really screen him as he's far too mobile and is quite happy to drop into midfield, and you can't really pick him up zonally as he quite literally drifts all over the shop. He's strong, has a turn of pace, a trick or two and a wonderful ability to play the incisive pass with perfect wieght and nine times out of ten, first time. In the last group game he scored one and made one (I think, the minds gone), and in this match he made one, scored one and had a hand in the other. Literally every time he gets on the ball there is danger, and in his little movements in and out of space, there are subtleties and nuances to keep even the most boring and anally retentive amongst us transfixed.

There's no doubt he will go for money, and my guess is he'll be a huge success choose wherever he goes.

Sadly i feel you are wrong!
In every tournament there is a player or two that stand out from the rest. What about his mate...Pavlyuchenko? or his mate with the killer right foot?
These players are all great for Russia.Does it mean thet will or would be great for LFC?? NO
Wake up Bob,ffs wise up!
Playing for national pride and doing it every saturday are a world apart!
Take away their pride and you take their engine and desire.....Arshavin looks great but in every day football he would find it hard and get kicked up and down the pitch!

There is more meat on a butchers apron than this Arshavin guy,
FFS put him against Carra or Terry or any big defender every week? They'd murder him.Hes about 5ft 8,skill yeah!
Would he cut it in our League??? Nope cause tackles are allowed!

Id love to see him in the prem though!! :D

I believe what you're describing Baz is known as the "Baros factor"--a lad who pulls up trees for his country one tournament but doesn't really catch the eye thereafter. :D

It's possible in Arshavin's case, of course, but I somehow doubt it.  There's just too much game intelligence to ally to that skill, IMO.  He'd be a fine player for any club side and I do think he has everything needed to accel at a big English club.  Ever since Luis Garcia, I've been hesitant to write off players who look physically unsuited for the Prem and say that attitude goes double for someone with the obvious skill and nous of Arshavin.

Love the "butchers Apron" line barry, that's why I put that in  :D

As for Terry or Carra nailing him, I'm not so sure. For one thing, he offers a very difficult target to get hold of because he drifts around the park with such fluidity. Flank to flank, deep and long he goes all the while slipping into little pockets of space like a gas leak in a mineshaft. As I said in the earlier post you can't put a screener in front of him such is his mobility, you can't ask the holder to pick him up as he'll dragged over to the full back positions, and you certainly couldn't ask Carragher or Terry to take him as they'd end up playing in midfield hald the time.

Playing like he does is not just a querstion of moving around a lot because anybody can do that, it needs awareness and anticipation, as well as the sureity of touch so he can instantly get the ball onto the side of him opposite whoever has him at the time. He is a good player mate, and I just wonder if we went 4-4-2 with Barry on the left, Gerrard/Masherano central, Kuyt if you must on the right and Torres up top with this lad drifting around and about how many teams would fancy playing us. Not that many is my guess.

The reality check is though, hes playing for Russia without fear!
He also played for Zenit st Petersburg in the Uefa cup,now hold on?
I think he is a class player BUT i would have my reservations about the lad, skillfull yes!No question about that.
BUT HES FUC'KING TINY,He would get shouldered off the ball every time in the EPL.Hes only about 5ft 9

IF LFC was taking a punt id much rather have his mate Pavyluchencko, yeah the tall one with blonde hair, what a great player!! I LOVE THE RUNS he makes off the ball and his effort on the pitch amazes me!!Angels no sweat i love this player!!!
Would he do it for LFC??
I dunno but he would try!
