woof woof ! wrote:Mrs Woof made me watch a movie called "August Rush" last night. A bit to sugary for my taste but the story of an orphaned musical prodigy searching for his parents did contain some moments of great musical invention.

If you like acoustic guitars check out this scene where the kid gets his hands on a guitar for the very first time.

august rush

Was looking at that the other day!I love guitars.

It gets a 7.5 outta 10 on IMDB.com which means it must be a good show!
Whoever votes on that site are harder to please with movies than you Woof and thats saying something! :D Ya fussy fecker!

Im gonna give it a watch soon!

I watched Sean Penn's "Into the Wild" last night and it was excellent. Highly recommend it.

These are the movies I will be watching over the weekend.....

3:10 To Yuma - A small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher.

Beneath - Christy (Zehetner) returns to her hometown years after a car accident that disfigured her older sister. Haunted by the accident in which she was the driver, she learns that her worst nightmares have either come true ... or are about to.

P.S I Love You - A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.

The Incredible Hulk- Really disappointing. Worse than the first film, and that wasn't that great.

The Happening - this may surprise some after viewing the trailer and thinking it looks really interesting and expecting it to be good. Let me give these people some advice: do not go and pay to see this film. It's atrocious. The actual trailer is 100 times more interesting than the actual film, which I believe to be one of the worst I've seen in a long, long time. Mr Shyamlalan needs to reitre and that's as truthful as I can put it. F*cking awful film.

"In Bruges" , don't normally like Colin Farrells movies but found this small budget "dark comedy" absolutely hilarious. Some great laugh out loud one  liners in the movie, a dwarf on speed and Ralph Fiennes as a physco gang boss (along the lines of ben kingsly in sexy beast) made it one of the most entertaining films I've seen this year.

the incidental comedy is brilliant. The film is riddled with ridiculous twists, slapstick violence and barmy cameos. McDonagh has never knowingly let good taste interfere with a thoroughly offensive joke. Jordan Prentice’s American midget is mercilessly thrown about from one end of the film to the other. Lard-arsed Americans die of heart attacks. A prissy antismoking couple are knocked clean out. Homosexual skinheads are blinded. When all’s said and done, it’s a wonderfully absurd film. McDonagh is never stuck for a brilliant kiss-off line. I doubt he’ll ever be stuck for an audience either.

Have to agree that this is a film to avoid.  I'm a big MKS fan--even his last two films that many other people didn't rate--but this one was just poor.  The story's an interesting idea but it never gets developed and it ends up feeling like a quirky version of every other apocalyptic event movie you've seen recently (I Am Legend, War of the Worlds, etc.).  Marky Mark is wasted in this one as well.  :no

The ironic thing is, that given the film's title, f*ck all actually happens in the film. It's probably one of the most uneventful and empty films I have ever seen. You keep waiting and waiting for something to develop, but nothing ever does, and then it ends. It was absolute tripe. How the story and script made it onto celluloid is beyond me.

Agree with Woof about In Bruges. Probably the best film I've seen this year. Most things this year have been disgraceful.

I was very disappointed with Diary. I just thought the acting was atrocious at times, very cheesy and as a result spoiled a lot of the tension. It's meant to be as if a zombie invasion were really taking place. For a start, in  a lot of the situations the person behind the camera would logically do the first thing that would come to most people's minds and drop the f*cking thing to help someone who's being attacked. I thought it was just stupid sometimes. There were a few creepy moments, but the script and Romero's direction let it down. I think it's safe to say that after Land and Diary, that Romero has been exposed for what he is: an overrated director that's been left behind in the low budget era of the 70's and 80's. Day was a triumph because of it's special effects and decent dialog, but that's mainly thanks to Tom Savini, who worked on the amazing (and still to this day unrivaled) special effects.

If you want to watch a first-person-perspective zombie film, then [REC] shows Romero how it should have been done. It's a bit on the short side, but it's more immersive and tensive than Diary ever tried to be.

I will look out for REC! :nod

ive been watching Anal amor, borrowed it off andy g (has a birthday share or something with the star of it)

Now, this film isn't for everyone, most people will think its the most infantile film ever made, but as stoner movies go, the H&K films are now up there with Cheech and Chong... add a little Neil Patrick Harris and if you liekd loved the first film then you'll like this one. (who wants to see that indiana jones/superhero :censored:)

Daws the first scene Kuma is sitting on the toilet cracked me up reminded me of when Finch was on the toilet in American Pie  :D

Watched In Bruge last night.

Two hitmen have to lie low in the Belgian city for a while till the dust settles. So they are stuck waiting on a call and the film revolves about how they get on in the city.

Very funny in parts and sad in others but all in all a very good film.

8/10
