I have seen them playing a lot, bar this season, where I only have seen them scoring in highlights. This season I was too focused in segunda, and I didn't miss the primera division bástards.

Both of them are great players. I do not dare anymore to make predictions about how'll they manage in England, because you see, Makelele was unwanted here and triumphed in England, Torres was under question in Spain and has become a total success, and Shevshenko is a great striker too, but never quite made it in England.

Silva has shown to me he's a complete winger not only in primera, but in segunda aswell, which is more physical, and dirty. So I can assure you without a trace of doubt, that despite he's not a big guy, he won't be bullied.

They would be a hell of a signing. Strong rumours linking Silva to Barcelona for about 17M have been abruptdedly answered from Valencia this morning, they say "He's not for sale", although with the small mouth they also say they'll consider an offer it it's huge.

Probably many teams interested mate, fierce competition it will be. I'm alert.

As a mate pointed me out, I hope this sudden Alonso movements that are being done means that Rafa needs cash quickly to make an important operation like Silva's or Villa's.

Last news I have on Alonso though, from local sources, is that Alonso and Juve still are far from reeching an agreement, and the negotiations will be parked during the Euro. But then, local source or not, this is just a rumour.

It seems as if Alonso's departure doesn't really depend on Barry coming or not, there's authorithation both from the club and Rafa to negotiate.

Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma has today declared that he wants to leave Porto according to reports in the Metro today.

The pacey winger joined Porto in 2004 from Barcelona where he failed to make a huge impact. However the 23 year old's career has taken off since his move to Portugal. He is one of the most highly rated wingers in Europe and has become the subject of much transfer speculation.

The rumours over Quarema's future had died down for the last few months, but now that reports have emerged today that he wants to leave the club, it looks as though Liverpool may try make another £15 million bid for the Portuguese international.

I personally think that he would be a great signing for Liverpool especially with their need of natural winger. It is also thought that if they don't manage to snatch up Quaresma, David Bentley would be another possible £8.5 million target for the Merseysiders.

Liverpool in £10m bidding war: Can Rafa beat Sir Alex?

June 1, 2008

Fierce rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are going head to head in the pursuit of one of the brightest talents in the UK, but who will win?

Manchester United have upped their offer for Cardiff City teenager Aaron Ramsey to £10million to head off a late move by Liverpool.
Sir Alex Ferguson is bidding £5m up front for the midfielder, but insiders have revealed extra performance based payments could double that figure. (The Mirror)

17 year old Ramsey looks like a very level headed individual, he has managed to manfully deal with the constant speculation about his imminent move away from Ninian Park. It seems that United are looking to scare the Reds off by doubling the original bid made by Rafa, what now? Do Liverpool fans think it is well worth forking out such a huge fee for the teenager? Do United fans feel that they have more to offer the Caerphilly kid?

Liverpool after £20m winger: Surely far too expensive!

June 1, 2008

Whilst its true that Albert Riera has impressed at Espanyol this past season surely Barcelona’s ‘other’ club is having a laugh with their valuation of the winger!

Espanyol have rejected Liverpool’s £9.5million bid for Spanish international Albert Riera. Liverpool offered £9.5million for the want-away winger. It’s reported that Espanyol are expecting a figure more like £20m.
Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Libre said, “If a club wants to sign Riera then the price will be 24million euros and that figure will not change.” (Sky Sports)

Whilst Liverpool could do with some creativity on the wings there are surely many others on offer for that kind of money! Do Anfield fans think that the valuation is crazy or is the figure reasonable in today’s inflated market?

FOUR players to leave Liverpool for £30m: ONE of them should stay!

June 1, 2008

It seems the Liverpool future for this Quartet is hanging in the balance, maybe Rafa may be hasty with one of these, whilst the other three have probably played their last games for the club.

Newcastle United are ready to bid for £5m rated John Arne Riise.(Daily Star)

Newcastle also want to hijack Portsmouth’s bid to sign Liverpool’s Peter Crouch and will offer £8m for the England striker. (The People)

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has no plans to lower the club’s asking price for goalkeeper Scott Carson.
The England international has spent the season on loan at Aston Villa and is keen to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis.

Villa boss Martin O’Neill is hoping to hang on to Carson, but is understood to be reluctant to meet the £10million fee thought to be demanded by the Reds.

Benitez said: “It is a matter between the clubs, we agreed the fee with Aston Villa last year. The fee has been there for one season, so to talk about the fee now is not correct. We agreed with Martin O’Neill and that was the situation.” (Sky Sports)

Liverpool’s second choice goalkeeper Charles Itandje is attracting interest from FA Cup winners Portsmouth plus former club Lens, who have just been relegated, and fellow French side Rennes. (Liverpool Daily Post)

I think that Rafa would do well to keep Peter Crouch, he has served the club pretty well over the 3 years and can still do a good job (as he proved towards the tail end of the season). I think Benitez is right to stick by his guns on the Carson fee, but in the end if O’Neill offers anywhere near the 10m then he should take the cash and run. As for Riise, his time at Anfield seems up, he has was woefully short of form last season and I think many would agree that Itandje will never be good enough to wear the Liverpool jersey. Who do Liverpool fans think should stay out of these four?

Blackburn are lining p Michael Kightly as a Summer target to repalce David Bentley who is increasingly looking Liverpool bound according to reports
The 23 year old joined Rovers from Arsenal in 2006 after spending loan spells at both Ewood Park and Norwich. Under the wing of Mark Hughes, Bentley has matured into one of the best wingers in the Premier League today. With his great domestic performances for Blackburn he has also edged his way into the England first team.

Bentley is currently valued at £8.5 million but personally I think he is worth considerably more than that. With Mark Hughes in talks with Man City, Bentley may also be considering his future at Ewood Park. I think he ould be a great signing for Liverpool and exactly what they are looking for in a winger at the moment and at a knock down price.
