Valencia striker David Villa will have put several Premier League clubs after admitting he could leave the Mestalla at the end of the season.

Villa, 26, said; "I have always listened when offers have been made and I have made decisions about my career, always in conjunction with the club because I have a contract.

"I have to think about my future, and I will do so.

"I will listen to everything, as I always have done."

The Spanish international has attracted the attention from English sides before, but moved from Real Zaragoza to Valencia in the summer of 2005 for £8.2 million.

Valencia have been struggling this season and have suffered since the departure of Rafael Benitez who won two La Liga titles and Uefa Cup for the club.

Villa has scored just eight times in 19 league matches this season and Valencia are currently 26 points behind league leaders Real Madrid in tenth place.

Tottenham are the club most recently linked to a move for Villa, with rumours of a £25 million pound move during the January transfer window, although Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are also thought to be interested.

Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo said in January: "Many clubs have contacted me to ask about the chances of a player who is guaranteed to score goals in England.

"But I am convinced if Spurs present an offer Valencia will study the subject."

fantastic player but we'd have to change our formation again.  :D

I think we will change our formation for next season anyway StMichael. I think the formation we are playing at present is more a matter of trying to hide our weaknesses (strikers) than playing to our strengths, with the added bonus of Alonso fitting into the team as well.

Next season with the acquisition of a quality winger and hopefully a top striker, I think we will be taking the game to teams more and playing in a 4-4-1-1  or 4-4-2 formation with either a creative second striker or someone like Villa/Eto'o banging in the goals alongside Torres.

my only worry with the 4-4-2 is who will be creating chances for the two strikers... whenever we play 4-4-2 it seems like we run out of ideas... i would prefer the creative second striker option...

I have always preferred the creative second striker but with the addition of a quality wide player we might just have enough creativity to go 4-4-2 with Villa. Aguero I have just been reading can play either wing as well as creative second striker, and sounds ideal.

Whether we will have a spare £40-45 million for Aguero AND Villa is another matter.

In an interview with Torres a couple of months ago he was asked if their are any Athletico players who he would like to see at Anfield and he said apart from Maxi their aren't any, he didn't rate Aguero when asked  ???

So you would kind of like for us to sign Aguero, I take it ??? :D Just kidding mate, it's just that you seem to mention him quite often, when we're talking about strengthening the attacking part of our team for the coming season. I myself haven't seen that much of him in live action, but I've been impressed with what I've seen aswell though. Would be an interesting player to look at. Weren't we rumoured to be linked with him before he signed for Atletico anyway? I seem to remember his name popping up in relation to the mighty reds back then, though he was deemed to be too expensive, Atletico acted very swiftly or whatever happened at that time.

I tend to often mention Diego, and I still maintain he'd be an extremely interesting player to get on board playing as a creative no. 10 behind Torres. Scored another cracker against Glasgow Rangers in the Uefa Cup just last week. My only concern would be, that he might be a bit lightweight for the PL, but that's a complaint which could be said to be relevant for most of the players, who accomodate the classic no. 10 role.

Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, Xabi Alonso and his wife want to bring up their child in Spain and so he could be moving on this Summer although Benitez is hoping to persuade him to hold out until the following Summer when he hopes that Lucas would have come through.
Sergio Aguero will come in next season and work alongside Fernando Torres up front although will operate just behind Torres. Philip Lahm will come in for £8 million. Benitez will rotate Aguero with Babel as he looks to bring them both into the first team. If Benitez cannot bring in Lahm, he will look to sign either Heinze or Bridge.

I can confirm that Rafael Benitez is having scouts watch the following players:

Rafinha – Rafa sees him as the long term replacement for Finnan. – Rated at approx. £6.5 million

Jefferson Farfan – Similar to Babel, can play anywhere in AM or ST. Will replace Kewell in squad. – Rated at approx £11 million

Juan Arango – Can play LW, CAM or SS. – Rated at approx £8 million

Oscar Trejo – Rafa is convinced this guy will be a success, will be bought in on loan to replace Voronin with a view to a permanent deal if all goes well. – LOAN

Sergio Aguero – Will be the big signing of the Summer, can play SS or ST. – Rated at approx £20 million

PLease note these are only players that will be watched in coming weeks and are by no means certain signings. Expect another defender to be scouted but do not know who.

Leaving Liverpool is likely to be Crouch, Voronin, Pennant, Kewell, Riise, Carson.

Promoted from reserves will be Insua only. Nemeth will be given another season at reserve level to prove himself totally as will Pacheco but they still may feature at some stage next season.

lfc

This Summer will be about quality rather than quantity.

in:

David Bentley £15 million package (£9 million cash + Pennant)

If not Bentley, then expect a move for Rafael van der Vaart (£15 million)

Klas Jan Huntelaar £14 million

Ezequiel Garay (Racing Santander) £9 million

If Alonso leaves expect a move for Portsmouth's Lassana Diarra. Liverpool could use Peter Crouch as bait for the impressive French midfielder who would be ideal for the two screening midfielders favoured now by Rafa.

out:

Scott Carson £6 million (Villa)
Harry Kewell (free)
Jermaine Pennant £6 million
Sebastien Leto (loan)
Jack Hobbs (loan)
Peter Crouch £10 million
Alonso (Possible – £14 million)

LFC's net spend will be around £15–20 million.

Yes, I would love us to sign Aguero or Diego, my preferance for Aguero is probably as much to do with the the fact that we were interested in him a couple of seasons ago as anything else. Diego I havn't seen much of since his days at Santos but after a lean spell in Portugal , he seems to have come into his own in the German league.

I would think if Diego can handle the physical side of the Bundesliga he would be able to manage in the Prem , although he may find it a little bit quicker over here.

Either would suit me though, maybe Aguero as he is younger and apparently more versatile (?) might be slightly the favourite for me, but whichever is cheaper and available would be great.

I wouldn't risk putting alot of money for getting villa (he hasn't been up to it with Valencia recently), I would go into a more younger creative second striker to play with Torres.

from the list I would definetly look more into Andres Guardado, left midfield player, awesome potential.

What do you guys think of Samri Nasri? Looks like he has lots of potential and could be a cheaper version of Aguero.

I like Farfan, he would ideal in an 4-3-3 formation, coming in from the right.

We've been linked with Lennon today. Don't think he's much better than Pennant.
