Arsenal wouldn't let Van Persie go without good reason.

He has had some serious injuries for a player of his age and there's a real chance he could unfortunately end up going down the same route as someone like Kewell in that respect.

After sending his trusty scouts to watch Mallorca striker Oscar Trejo, Rafael Benitez has decided to make a move for the 19-year old, The People reported. He will hope to bring the Argentine to Anfield during the summer on a loan deal, with a view to a permanent move.

Benitez is looking to bolster his strike force, with Crouch possibly being sold and Voronin suffering from a long term injury. Trejo came through the ranks at Boca Juniors, the same academy which produced world class players like Riquelme, Messi and Maradona. He then caught the eye of Benitez with a succession of brilliant displays for Mallorca.

Trejo’s current contract runs intil 2011, but he is supposedly unwilling to rot on the bench for the Spanish outfit, having already had a place in the Argentinian national team jeopardised due to a consistent lack of playing time. Cue a swoop from Rafael Benitez.

Xabi closer to Liverpool exit after Benitez row
tribalfooball.com - March 10, 2008

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was unimpressed by Xabi Alonso's decision not to travel with the squad yesterday to Milan - until his girlfriend had given birth to their first child.

The Daily Mail says in a row that will increase tension between the pair and could hasten Alonso's Anfield departure, the Liverpool midfielder insisted on staying behind instead of boarding the flight for Tuesday's Champions League tie with Inter Milan.

It is understood that he was convinced he would be allowed to link up with his team-mates once partner Nagore had given birth on Merseyside. But Benitez announced that Alonso would not be travelling.

He added: "He wanted to come out here but only if everything was okay.

"We could not wait and had to make a decision. You cannot wait and wait and wait for any player. There comes a time when you have to decide and make use of your squad."

Liverpool hope to agree £8M Trejo deal
tribalfooball.com - March 09, 2008

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez hopes to welcome Real Mallorca's Argentine striker Oscar Trejo to Anfield next season.

The People says Benitez is targeting the 20-year-old striker, with an option to make the deal permanent for around £8million.

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Trejo and are sure he could make it.

You know what ? F**k Rafa in this instance...I would quit my day job if my boss told me I had to miss the birth of my child. Not even up for discussion....

Seriously mate, the media is trying to f*ck things up again, Rafa didn't have a row with Alonso, the media are trying to be cocky just to say that Alonso doesn't want to play, then "Yeh Rafa had a fight with Alonso" bollox statements.

Agreed. I'm sure the comment by Rafa isn't intended to be meant in the way the newspapers are making it out. It's just that he still isn't capable of explaining himself in the exact way he wishes to in english (he himself has said so before - that some things get lost/twisted in translation). Of course Xabi should be with his wife for the birth of their child.

Surely his girlfriend should have told him to go play.

A night of glory in the San Siro compared to a cold night at Broadgreen.................  its a no-brainer.       (Said as a father of 2 BTW).

Rafa didn't seem too bothered when the interviewer from Sky asked him about Alonso last night.  In fact he positively beamed at him when he mentioned the fact that Alonso was a new father!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.
