Are you suggesting that King Kenny couldn't do the job, that's herecy isn't it![]()
I would like to see Pako given a chance, Rafa pushed him out because they disagreed and look how successful we've been with just Rafa in charge!!!
To all those who disagree with the original post, I doubt you have actually read it properly but if you disagree with it then can you please for once come with some counter arguments instead of the same old tedious answers;
a) We are constantly unlucky
b) Rafa's not had enough money, despite £20 million for Torres, £10 million for Kuyt, Babel etc etc
c) It's all the owners fault despite us beingin the league 3 out of the 4 seasons rafa's been in charge.
Also someone please, and I'm getting fecking bored of asking this question without getting an answer, explain why Rafa doesn't play his best players, i.e why he plays Kewell and Kuyt instead of Babel and Crouch.

I'm not sure yet, I'll keep my judgment till the end of the season to have a hard look at the table and see if we won any competition or not.
JBG, you wrote an excellent post, and I think you were 100% spot on when you said the summer of 2006 held us back in terms of getting players. The important aspect of the 2005/2006 season is that we were really looking like title challengers, having long winning streaks, etc... Its in the summer of 2006, I thought Benitez made big mistakes, who he promised when he came to Liverpool not to make mistakes in the transfer market. He, firstly, failed to get a quality winger (ending up getting average ones) and made a mistake of getting kuyt for 10m! that summer was the turning point of Benitez's regime.
However, if we can kickstart our winning ways starting tommorow and ending up getting 4th place finish, plus winning the champions league or f.a cup or both, then I would give Benitez one more season to realize what mistakes he has done (the worrying part IF he does realize his mistakes) and to mount a serious title challenge. But if doesn't happen, them I'm afraid Rafa has to go and someone else should replace him.
Mourinho? I doubt he would win us the league.
puroresu wrote:Just to note my replacement would be Mourinho as his the current available manager. There other names I like but as they are in jobs I will pick mourinho. (Van Basten will be available in the summer. I like him).
Why do people only assume that Mourinho was successful due to money being spent. I think he has enough about him to build a quality side with less money than he got at chelsea. Porto were a very good side and I doubt he spent million and millions building that side. Love him or hate him Mourinho is a good motivator and can get his team going that extra yard. Rafa seems to lack that quality and the players to me just seem to go through the motions. I do feel Mourinho can play with wide players. In his first season at chelsea, Robben and Duff were fantastic and that out of the 3 seasons that was most balanced chelsea side.

One of things i dont have a clue about is how would be beter than Rafa.
Mourinho is a good Prem manager but i am not sure he would fit in under the new owners.
I still side on the " bring in a English manager with a old school bootroom"
They only way i could see this was if we had 4 or 5 old liverpool players back at the club.
If Mourinho did get the job i woul still like to see some of our old players come back into the fold at the club.
when you look at the prem there has only ever been 4 managers that have won it so finding a proven manager in the prem is hard.

I am not so sure Mourinho wouldn't win us the league, I thought we had a good enough team for Rafa to win us the league this season. Admittedly I was hoping for another striker in the transfer window to help lead our challenge.
We have 7 players who are certainly good enough to be in a title winning team (3 of which are probably close to, if not already world class) So we certainly have the nucleus of a title winning team. I just think there needs to be a change of attitude from the players and we somehow need to get them playing to their full potential.
Maybe a change of manager would give us that mentality or maybe Rafa can still do it? I admit I just don't know. I am certain that we should be a lot closer to the top than we are though.
