Watched Mr Brooks last night and it was a lot better than i expected, Kevin Costner acted the part very well, 7.5 out of 10.

The Mist

Based on a Stephen King novel and turned into this. I'm not a big fan of films based on King's ideas as they usually have some kind of crazy characters in there that annoy rather than entertain and they're usually religious. This is no exception as there's a crazy bible basher in here that you'll be wishing for someone to just beat the f*ck out of or just kill her stone dead, she is that annoying. I'll say no more.

At first I thought this would be a cheap TV kind of film, or a Fog rip off. It isn't either of them. What it is is surprisingly good. Better than I thought it would be. It's worth watching for the ending alone, which has to be said is unique in it's own right, but it somehow leaves you feeling a little bit bad about it. Happy endings? Who needs em! Every film should end like this one.

Is it set in a supermarket Emerald? I remember reading a S.King short story years ago about some evil fly like things in a mist, and they all sheltered in a supermarket from them.

Just got back from the cinema.

Watched a flick called We Own The Night. Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Duvall and Mark Wahlberg.

Very much like The Departed.

In fact, I would describe it as "The Departed-lite"

Worth a watch. Two brothers on opposite sides of the law, a drugs deal goes wrong, family gets involved, one of the brothers has to find redemption. A good watch.

Watched Knocked Up last night, its pretty much a film to watch with your partner and quite a bit of humour in it especially the main bloke Ben and his doped up mates, a good film with a lot of pregnant stuff for the ladies.

Just watched Michael Clayton, good film staring George Clooney as a "mr fixit", slow but Clooney keeps you interested. Good film well worth watching. (Bamaga the copy out now is missing the first few mins but is ok after that mate)

Watched "This is England".

It's about a boy who lost his father in the Malvinas (Falklands in english?) war and was tempted by some ultranationalists skin heads.

It's funny how the messages of the ultranationalists are the same no matter in what culture you are, change St George's cross for the San Juan's Imperial Eagle, and the messages are pretty much the same.

Saw the film from the start to the end, so it wasn't bad.

I was really let down by I am Legend, nothing really happened all the way through the film and I was super p1ssed that Sam the dog died

Finally got round to seeing I am Legend last week and found it quite enjoyable even if not much happened.

Like Paul I was well pi55ed off that Sam the dog died. :sniffle

Nearly as bad as when Bambi's mum bought it at the end of that film.

Thought the end was a bit sloppy really and it's nothing we haven't seen before in the likes of 28 days later and from what I gather The Omega Man.

Question for Jkop and Woof.

I ALWAYS WONDERED since I was a teenager anyway what would think a real soldier that had real battles about films like Platoon, Apocalypse now and this kind of films.

I guess nothing can compare to the adrenaline bursts, fear and all that that it's impossible to imagine if you haven't been there.

But do any war films actually grasp at least remotely some of the sensations of war? what do you think when you see those?

Watched Rise of the Footsoldier last night.

Its another Hooligan English movie but I was well impressed with it, and tracks the life of a minor thug in the 70s all the way up through the beginning of the dance scene to the major underground drug world of th mid 90s.

Very enjoyable and some top acting throughout.
