I was basically saying I think I have seen every single Fernando Torres match so far. My impression is that he is not a classic scorer, a pure goal predator. You will note at some stage that he misses apparentlly easy goals and may need more chances that other "pure" strikers.
On the contrary, he is much more complete than the Van Nistelrooys and the like (who are, in my view, extraordinary players). He is the first one to defend, the first one to try to make mate's life easier. A constant fighter and committed player, a modern forward, with greater contribution than pure "9"s. Until now he has been used to "build" goals by himself, he never had a passer or player with a full football vision in Atlético (unfortunately for us ...). Thus, you will see very few goals of his where he merely had to push the ball into the goal - on the contrary, what he has done so far is both his role and the role of the midfielder responsible for feeding him with clear balls. Notwithstanding all this, he has been among the top three Spanish scorers every single season he has played.
He will go through phases when he misses easy goals or loses apparently easy balls. It has been like this so far. In my experience, putting too much effort in defending him during those phases is simply a waste of time: lay back, take some time and he will defend himself easily, coming back to his playing standards after a few matches.

I just wonder if our interest is purely to put a little pressure on Mascherano and maybe as a fall back in case Mascher doesnt stay.

By the way, Sabre, you can't hide what team you support uh?But, yeah, i agree with you...the guy is not worth the sum people was talking about and, also, he needs to gain loads of experience before signing for a club like LFC. So far, he may just dream of it.
IMHO, Rafa sometimes gets too far when it comes to sign future/potential starplayers...I think that is the best way to create and develop a serious long-term project, but not at any cost.

Saludos.
