England striker Michael Owen has a release clause in his Newcastle contract that would let him leave for only £6m. (The Times)

Apparently such a clause no longer exists according to Newcastle (and they should know a thing or two about it!): http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_2804989,00.html

Didier Drogba is set to demand a move from Chelsea, according to reports in France.

The Ivory Coast star has become unsettled in West London following the departure of manager Jose Mourinho.

Last season's top-scorer in England has found Mourinho's departure hard to take, and now with Milan and Real Madrid circling, Drogba has admitted he cannot take life with Chelsea anymore.

"I want to leave Chelsea," he has told France Football - which will publish the full interview on Friday.
"Nothing can stop me from leaving now. Something is broken with Chelsea.
"The damage in the dressing room is big because we know now what happened and who caused Mourinho's departure."

Drogba insisted that no matter who Chelsea might sign next summer - he did not want to play for The Blues beyond this season.

"I know that Ronaldinho and Kaka are linked to come next season but even that won't change my mind," he continued.

Rumours of Drogba's unrest have been circulating ever since Mourinho's departure and his latest outburst would only seem to confirm that he does not have a long-term future at the club.

Dream signing or nightmare ? I think he's a great player but price and his crying might be just too much.

Worth a cheeky bid ?

Looks like things are going from bad to worse at Chelsea.

I know we have not been linked with him but it wasn't worth starting a thread.

Would be a very good addition to our squad if he is prepared to be 5th choice :)

Don't think it would happen, and I'm not sure I would want to see him in our red shirt anyway, even though one has to admit he is a good striker. But ask me again if we don't score for a couple of games, and I might have changed my mind :D

Liverpool are reported to be frontrunners in the hotly contested race to sign one of Denmark’s most highly rated teenagers, Simon Kjaer.

Reds manager Rafael Benitez has already sent his scouts to Denmark in order to find out how good the 18-yr-old defender is.

The player’s agent, Mikkel Beck, insists that the Merseyside club have already been sufficiently impressed enough to sound out the youngster’s club, FC Midtyjlland, to the possibility of his services.

"You realise how special this kid is when Liverpool watch him and tell you he's good enough to play in their first team.

"Messi, Rooney, Dos Santos - he is special like them.

"Lille and Monaco were the first to show an interest, then Real made a much better offer and it was turned down. He is worth a lot more."

Beck has let it be known that Kjaer is widely tipped to become as good as some of the game’s greatest defenders.

Not heard much about him apart from the fact that a lot of clubs are interested, from Middlesborough to Madrid , figures are around the 3 Million mark.

From Setanta:

Liverpool have emerged as front runners to sign Simon Kjaer, one of the most highly-rated teenage talents in Europe.

The 18-year-old defender has been courting interest from Europe's top clubs with some fine performances for Danish club FC Midtyjlland.

Real Madrid are among the clubs tracking the defender's progress, but it is believed Liverpool have jumped to the head of the queue after sending scouts to watch the player.

Agent Mikkel Beck told The Sunday Sun: "You realise how special this kid is when Liverpool watch him and tell you he's good enough to play in their first team.

"Messi, Rooney, Dos Santos - he is special like them.

"Lille and Monaco were the first to show an interest, then Real made a much better offer and it was turned down. He is worth a lot more."

Is his agent the same fella who had the blond bob who played for Middlesboro? It sounds like he's a better agent than he was a centre forward. Talking his bloke up and claiming that the World and his brother have been over to check up on his man is the oldest trick in the book. He's obviously got his eyes on a nice fat cut should the kid be snapped up.

Good enough to play for our first team though? He's talking out of his erse there, becasue if he was he wouldn't be playing for FC Midtableland or whatever the feck they're called.
