Exactly what I was thinkin, Rafa likes to have 4 strikers, I hope Crouch stays as we don't have a player to replace him and Baptista isn't in the same mold.

i thought our next signing is going to be a defender ???

baptista would be nice as well :D

Daily Mail
Liverpool are launching a £13.5 million bid for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Julio Baptista.

The Brazilian - nicknamed 'The Beast' - spent last season on loan at Arsenal but failed to shine consistently, although he did net four goals as the Gunners beat Liverpool 6-3 in a Carling Cup tie at Anfield in January.

After helping Brazil win the Copa America over the summer he was linked with a move for AC Milan, but it is now claimed Rafael Benitez has entered the bidding with an offer that may be enough to tempt Real to sell.

Marca says Benitez has already lodged a £13.5 million offer for Baptista.

I think it would be Kuyt or Crouch under pressure more than Veronin if we signed Baptista.

£13.5 million is a lot of moolah for an unconsistent player??  :suspect:

I heard in the ground last night that we have put a bid in last night for Baptista and Crouch is on his way to Portsmouth.

Im a fan of Crouch and would miss him but at the game last night he should have scored at least 3 goals, luckily enough we didn't need them, but the more he does miss the chances the more rafa is gonna get fed up with him and I can see him going to Portsmouth for a tidy profit.

I woudl take Baptista over Crouch in a heartbeat, Crocuh had his chance last night and blew it, sure he scored a goal but that weas more down to the hard work of Kuyt than crouch himself.
Crocuh has not improved at all in the time he has been at Liverpool and he seems a bit too arrogant for my liking.
really hope we get Baptista, Iliked the look of him last season and don't quite understand why Arsenal let him go, but then they let Babel slip out of their reach as well. i think they could come to rue those decisions.

Personally I'm not a big fan of Baptista, and I certainly would not pay 13,5 million for him. But if he should come here, I will of course cheer him on like every one of our players and hope he proves my doubts wrong. As the old saying goes: in Rafa we trust :;):

How old is Baptista.

When he was at Arsenal he was moaning about the weather and that the English premiership is to tough and he couldn't use his skill etc etc.

So I don't know what he expects will be different at us.

seriously we shuld be looking at someone like stefanovic from portsmouth. he is 32, can play at lb and dc and he will provide good cover in case we have an injury crisis. do we really need baptista? what does he offer to us that we dont have?

Chelsea, Liverpool battle for French superkid Feghouli
tribalfooball.com - August 29, 2007

Chelsea and Liverpool are battling for superkid Sofiane Feghouli after the Grenoble midfielder admitted today he wants to leave his French club.
"I feel I can play at the top level and I do not feel Grenoble can offer me what I want," said the 17 year-old.

Feghouli still has three years left on his contract, but is prepared to leave and knows Ajax, Liverpool and Chelsea are ready to open their open chequebooks to take him away from France.

I'm unsure about Baptista and for £13.5m I think it's very expensive, maybe £8m but no more than £10m, I think he'd adapt better at LFC with us having a lot of Spanish and South American players.

I would still take Crouch over him though :;):

here.here.big crouchy seems to be getting a hard time for his misses last night.he took his goal well and done well to get in the positions for his missed chances.
he probably isnt oozing confidence as he hasnt played much.baptista had an average season at arsenal last season.
thanks but no thanks real.you have done us over once to many.
