I hate facts and figures about how much sides of spent. Yes I've said many times Rafa has had 100m+ to spend but overall that is a waste of time, because for price value, I'd rather have our side than any of the others and here's why for the spine of a side. Reina 7mill or Cech 14? Reina hands down because IMO he's a better keeper anyway. Carra for nothing, Ferdinand almost 30 mill, Carvalho 18 mill. Carra hands down because he's the best centre half in the world. Gerrard for nothing, Lampard 8 mill, Carrick for 16 mill, Stevie wins hands down because he's the world's greatest complete player. Crouch for 7mill, Rooney almost 30 or Drogba 24 mill, for price compared to quality I'd pick Crouch. If he played as often as the other 2, he would score as many goals certainly as Rooney and would come close to amount scored by Drogba and he cost us less than a 3rd of what United and Chelsea were prepared to pay.
If we want we can compare the rest of the side. Finnan/Neville/Ferriar. Neville wins because he didn't cost a penny. Agger/Terry/Vidic again for the same reason as Neville, Terry would win, but I wouldn't swap Terry for Agger. Cole/Evra/Riise, JAR wins in my eyes. 5 million for a left back who'll bang in 6/7 goals a season, not bad. Pennant/Ronaldo/SWP, Ronaldo has to win despite him costing double Pennant's price, he is worth every penny. Alonso/Hargreaves/Makelele, Xabi all day, one of the best technically gifted players in the world. Babel/Malouda/Nani, Babel was the cheapest out the 3 and what I've seen of them, he's the best as well. Torres/Tevez?/Shevchenko, for money again I'd choose the Liverpool player.
So for people who moan, United and Chelsea are streets ahead of us because they have spent tons and tons of money, is billhooks. Our players are as good if not better than any other side in Britain, the simple truth is 1) we're not consistant enough and 2) the tactics are constantly wrong. We spend as much money as most sides year in year out, so there's no reason why we can't challenge.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.
