my point is this, by playing fringe players in the league does not match my ambition. 3rd/4th place was all but garanteed in say Feb,but in my opinion it sends out all the wrong signals about what this great club is all about. i believe that Rafa does not have the facilities to do his job and i dont think any of these players he has signed so far or being linked to players like benayoun and bent really send out a signal that next season liverpool will be contenders. i dont think we will be. again my opinion. I think that signing players like Etoo and Tevez is a move in the right direction. Voronin is a step back.

We'd all love Eto & Tevez, but you're going to have to break open your piggy bank, because i very much doubt that Rafa has a budget of £60m+ , especially for just 2 players.

i would do mate but im on the dole! i wouldnt sign both - just one of them. thsi is of course if we manage to sell Bellamy for 9mil. Benayoun played most of last season on the right

So let's get this straight, then:

The out going players from last season's squad are:

Fowler,
Zenden,
Gonzalez (like as not),
Bellamy (like as not),
And Dudek.

Thus, we require players to replace these, AS WELL AS top-quality players.

You cannot have a squad of superstars. It doesn't work. It will never work.

Therefore, the signing of Benayoun may not set th pulse racing, but it may well be the difference between a win and a loss throughout the course of the season.

He's a very tidy player. Not a World-beater, but a good player non-the-less.

if we dont sign any top players for next season, do you think we will end up potless?

Of course, but the signing of Benayoun would not be the only one we make in the Summer.

People are reading far too much into what the tabloids have to say. There's nothing happening for them to suck the blood out of, so they come up with a load of sh*t to fill their pages.

If we sign Bent, I will be very suprised. He would not get the chances he needs in our team.

Benayoun, however, would be an astute addition as back-up.

I can't be fecked to answer posts like these properly any more, it's getting tedious.

Rafa doesn't have the facilities to do the job?

Presumiably you mean funds? In the past, it wasn't possible, you spend with thrift or you do a Leeds United - we had no Billionaire backer.

Was Voronin intended to be a major signing comparable to Eto'o or Tevez?

We don't know how Voronin will fair, he seems to have the right attitude and he was free, had we forked out £40m for him then I'd be worried.

Benayoun would be a good player for the sqaud.  I will be disappointed if the club have gone to Benayoun due to not being able to get 1st choice targets.

Well I think that Breadhead and Humdrum ("the rain falls down on a humdrum town") are both Mancs or Everton supporters and should be banned. Failing that they are both absolutely clueless and should be banned. If anybody has any thoughts, shout up.

Can't believe we are in for Benayoun. Would be seriously :censored: off if there is any truth in this. I don't want to hear :censored: like its 'about strengthening the squad' etc. Its about strengthening the 1st team this year and players like Benayoun won't do that. Is their any truth that we don't have the dosh we first thought the Yanks would bring in?

I just think all this negativity is uncalled for. I usually enjoy the rumours, the hopes and dreams of great players joining us. All this cr@p is just depressing. I am not wildly excited by som of the names we are linked with, but its the same every year. We get linked with great players and cr@p players, you just hope we buy the great ones and other teams buy the cr@p.

Everyone should just relax and enjoy the ride. Whoever we get will be an improvement on Diao etc, so fingers crossed and hopes high and STOP WORRYING.

I think we are waiting till we have signed Eto'o before we sign anyone of significance anyway. Rafa needs to know he has enough money for that deal before worrying about all the other deals he has lined up.
