its all well and good to have the 'it wont happen to us' menatality', but sadly it can happen to anyone. but the fact that those parents (bth educated people) went out and left the children unatnded in a disgrace, even taking abductors out the equation it is still a disgrace, what if one of the children was sick, choked on their vomit, what if one had a fit, what if one woke up, went looking for mummy and fell in the pool or wandered in the road.

those parents are 100% to blame and they shouldnt try and dress it up in any other way, disgrace and the other kids should be taken away as they have shown they cant look after them.

they were in a hotel ffs with room service yet they chose to go out, because og their selfish attitude they have lost a daughter, i hope that is a lesson to all other parents as well, although i doubt some will care

I have seen irresponsible parenting so many times, in varying degrees, its frightening.

I have been to the park with my two boys 5 and 2, and let me tell you I do not take my eyes off my boys for a second. I take them to the park so I can interact and play with them both, and no other reasons, ie. sit there and talk :censored:

, so they can play and I have time on my own, if I wanted that I would not have children.

Only the other day I was in the local playground with my boys (which is gated) 3 mums sitting there, fag in hand chatting for absolute ages with what seemed like no care in the world. All of a sudden one of them decided to check on her child, guess what, the kid had opened the gate himself and walked out................que the frantic search and tears. This went on for about 15 mins, it turned out the kid had walked over to the little park cafe (where the ice creams are sold) and was just sitting on the step.

Whilst not on the same scale as the Maddy case, it could well have been.

Our job as parents is to protect our childern from ALL potential vulnerable situations. Leaving your children in bed, on their own with two younger siblings is simply irresponsible, and I hope to god, Maddy is found safe and well.

I think what is getting to most people is the fact that these parents left there kid alone in a hotel but it wasnt a one off it was many times and the kidnapper(s) was watching them do it. There are many kids missing still wrapped in cotton wool from there parents but next to no coverage is shown in there disappearance, yet there is plenty shown in this particular case where the parents were only thinking of themselves, even now, seeing the pope so they feel better, its all just plain wrong.

good point.

Whilst EVERYONE here hopes she is found safe and well, you cannot deny the fact that if her parents had been doing their job properly this wouldn't have happend. The way they are using the media is wrong on so many levels, because it does come across as if they're enjoying the limelight.

I 100% back the people who say its the parents fault for leaving the kids unattended, no mother or father should leave there kids in a room and go out for a meal or what ever, But i do feel for them no parent should have to deal with what they got not matter the circumstances,

but there are 2 types of senarios here, was she taking by a peado or by some one whop sold to a mother/family cos they couldnt have kids themselves?

if she has been taken by a paedo i know this is very hard to read but i hope they ended her life early on since she was taken, because what has it been almosta month? well a girl being abused for that amount of time would be, its just mind bending i just cant put it right in to words i feel sick now thinking about it.

but on the other hand if she was sold to a mother or family, i reckon they would have taken good care of her and now that mother or family has seen the news and are frightened to say whats going on,

its all speculation no ones whats really happened, but i hope for Maddys sake its the second part.

fekin people are right wankas in this world. but it could have all been avoided if her parents parented properly and not thought of themselves.

The weird thing for me is that certain sections of the media are buying into every move the parents make as if it's news.

Every day for weeks now the radio news has had the movements of Maddy's parents in the top 3 stories. It's sad, but I'm way past the point on thinking it's f*cking ridiculous.

At this stage, unless there's a development in the investigation, there should be no coverage. Nothing is happening, no new suspects have been identified - how is that news?

And as others have said - an audience with the Pope? Absolutely f*cking absurd. Does Louise Woodward get to say hello in the coming weeks as well?

Lapsed catholics that are sh*te parents everywhere should get a bit of this action while the going's good.

I don't know if the name Colin Parry means anything to users of this board, but this whole saga just takes me back to the actions of said fella in the wake of a tragedy close to my heart from 1993.

Nobody here wishes harm on Maddy, but at this stage just go home, cuddle the rest of your kids and keep a phone handy as far as I'm concerned.

dont be an idiot, the only reason the parents are doing this is to keep the coverage going. the more coverage, the more chance of getting a result. and what else have the media got to talk about? big fricking brother?

theres room on the news to keep this at the forefront of peoples minds, and thats all anyone wants at the moment to get information

Who's to say that doing this whole globetrotting thing is actually helping as opposed to hindering? I'd have thought that anyone trying to avoid being caught is more likely to be careful if the effort to catch them is rubbed in their faces 24/7. Kind of takes the element of surprise out of the equation.

And as I've said, there are plenty of equally worthy cases that aren't getting a sniff of publicity, much less the endless barrage of coverage that the McCanns are commanding.

Whatever though. It's a polarising issue and I'm certainly not going to tell anyone to not feel the way they feel about it. It's just all very, very sad, in every sense and on many levels.

i know what you mean dude. but as far as the parents see it, every time there is an inch of column words about maddy, the chances are better that some kind of resolution will be found. Of course it doesnt help all the others that have either run away from home or 'gone missing' in the mean time. its just a very sad state of affairs

A mystery phone call from a man claiming to know the whereabouts of missing Madeleine McCann could provide a new lead in the case, it has emerged.

The caller provided such detail that Kate and Gerry McCann put their European search for their daughter on hold in case they needed to act.

The couple were informed of the potential development while in Germany, where they were appealing for information about their four-year-old child. It is 35 days since Madeleine was abducted from her bed in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz.

The "credible" call was taken from a man who wanted to speak directly to the McCanns, according to a Spanish police source. It was traced to an unregistered pay-as-you-go phone from an unidentified country but not thought to be Morocco, where a previous possible sighting of Madeleine was reported.

The caller did not reveal his identity or nationality, but the information was considered important enough to alert Mr and Mrs McCann, the source said.

At around 3pm on Wednesday, the couple - who were about to go to Tempelhof airport in Berlin to fly on to the Netherlands - were advised that the caller might try to contact them, so they stayed on at the British embassy.

At 6pm, journalists travelling in the eight-seater private jet with the McCanns were told by the flight crew that there might be a change in destination. They revealed they had been asked to draw up a new flight plan involving a possible change from Amsterdam to East Midlands Airport.

It was thought the McCanns might need to go back to the UK to talk to advisers about the call.

But all efforts to re-establish contact with the man failed and the couple decided to go on to Amsterdam. They left Berlin at 7.30pm, three hours later than planned, for the hour-long flight to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam to continue their search. Mr and Mrs McCann are thought to be on standby, ready to return to the UK if necessary.

A Spanish police source said: "A man called saying he knew where Madeleine was and wanted to speak to the McCanns. This did not appear to be a crank call and the information was felt credible enough to warrant the couple being informed immediately."
