IF THE SIHT COMING OUT OF THE YANK'S MOUTH ABOUT "ANY PLAYER RAFA WANTS THEY WILL GET ", THEN IT WOULD BE:

CARLITOS TEVEZ--£20M
SAMUEL ETO'O--£25M
DANI ALVES--£20M
DAVID SILVA--£15M
                 THAT'S £80M OUTLAY
SELL BELLAMY--£12M
       SISSOKO--£10M
       CROUCH--£15M
       GONZALEZ£5M       £42M BACK FROM THEM
THAT'S A TOTAL OUTLAY OF ONLY £38M, ADD TO THAT THE £8M FOR LUCAS AND THE £12M FOR MASCERANO, THAT'S " £58M "
I KNOW SOME OF THE PRICES FOR OUR PLAYERS BUT THE NEW PREM PRIZE MONEY IS GONNA DEFFO MEAN AN INCREASE IN VALUE.

A TEAM WITH
                                    REINA
  ALVES            CARRA                 AGGER         RIISE
                               MASCERANO

GARCIA                   GERRARD                  SILVA

                      TEVEZ

                                 ETO'O

BOTH FULL BACKS ARE JUST AS COMFORTABLE IN RIGHT MIDFIELD, FOR ALTERNATIVE FORMATION.
SECOND XI
                               CARSON
FINNAN           ARBELOA        PALLETA?         F. AURELEO

PENNANT          ALONSO         LUCAS           LETO

                        KUYT
                                   VORONIN

I MIGHT BE STUPID TO THINK LUCAS AND LETO CAN PLAY PREM FOOTIE STRAIGHT AWAY BUT THEIR YOUTUBE VIDS LOOK GOOD?

ALL THIS FOR £58M QUID
SHOW ME THE MONEY

I DON'T THINK THE PLAYERS I NAMED ARE A MAD LIST OF SUPER-GALACTICOS, THEY ARE JUST THE TYPE OF PLAYERS NEEDED,,

IT WOULD'NT NEED A BLANK CHEQUE TO BUY THE PLAYERS I NAMED, JUST £60M AND A GOOD NEGOTIATOR.

WHAT CAN £60M BUY  = ESSIEN + DROGBA
                                ROONEY + RIO + HARGREVES

WHY IS IT MAD TO SPEND £60M ON 4 TOP CLASS PLAYERS

Do we know Rafa wants these players? Do we know we are able to spend £60m? Would they really cost £60m? Eto'o is purportedly valued at nearer £40m than £25m. Do we need these 5 players anyway?

Are we really going to sell Crouch for £15m (who would pay that) ? Are we really going to sell Sissoko for £10m? Is Bellamy really going for £12m?

You've got it all worked out, but the reality is missing.

You said there was a dearth of left mids, I gave you a list some quality left mids, that is not to say I think they're all better than Pedersen!

Please quote me before you make stupid assumptions.

No you didn't but....when i suggested Gamst Pedersen you said "I think we need someone with more pace, strength and who is a more powerful runner than Morten Gamst Pederson." When i suggested there was a dearth of quality left-sided players available you included Downing in your list of (quality?) players whilst ommitting Pedersen. Maybe i'm jumping the gun here and making a 'stupid assumption' but this allied to your previous comments about Pedersen lead me to think you rate downing more highly. Do you?

Don't recall saying or insinuating that at any time in any post i have ever made on this forum.

They have different attributes, but it's not case of who's the better player, it's who would suit us best, I think Downing suits us better than Pedersen.

In my view Downing has more strength, pace and is a more powerful runner with the ball than Pedersen. Hence why I included Downing on the list and hence why I mentioned those three attributes.

I did not ommit Pedersen, you said, "But can you think of anyone", i.e. suggestions other than Pedersen.

I personally feel Downing would be a better option to Pedersen, that's my opinion.

You've made some good posts on the forum since you joined up mate but many of them (in my opinion) have a 'matter of fact' undertone bordering on condescension that could be associated with your typical footballing 'mr know it all'.

Fair enough, I think downing is a decent player but he looks a bit of a one-trick pony to me and i think he would get found out if he were playing against defences that sit back week in week out. I'm not sure i can see that he is a more powerful runner/player than Pedersen. but then neither of them strike me as powerful runners.

I don't claim to know it all nor do I insinuate that within my posts, how you interpret my posts is your problem, not mine.

I give my opinions on thing sand try to back them up with facts, I don't make unreasonable assumptions nor do I pontificate about things.

I could say the same about some of your posts on here, you seem to be the one with the problem in accepting facts and opinions based on those facts.

My posts are not about "undertone" they are about content, if you disagree with that content then fine. I don't care, people have opinions and people disagree about those opinions.

But that's not really true for yourself or any of us is it? This is a football forum and most of (or nearly all) the discussion is based on our opinions as apposed to facts. We spend a lot of time discussing the ability levels of players, evaluating performance in each game, argueing who should be in the squad, should we beat this team or that team? Surely it's pretty much all opinion?

"I think we need someone with more pace, strength and who is a more powerful runner than Morten Gamst Pederson" ...isn't based on fact, it's an opinion. just about everything we talk about on here is subjective.

It is true, we give our opinions on facts, like the fact that there were problems in Athens with ticketing. I gave my opinion on that, a fact.

Opinion on players, opinion on tactics, of course are subjective. That is not to say you can't give an opinion based on the facts of what happened in a particular game, or the extent to which a player has achieved success. Both are measurable.

If you are saying I cannot give my opinion on a player and back that opinion up with facts, then you are wrong.
Facts like assists, goals, pass completion rate, cross success rate are all taken into account when backing up your opinion on a player.

I wrote a page essay on fact vs opinion when arguing with stu a while back, I'm not going to go into it again, it is there if you want to read it.

David Villa's been my #1 choice for 3 years, even when he was at Zaragoza. He's incredible.

I'd take Eto'o/Henry too, who wouldn't?

I think we're gonna sign Torres. Quote me on that. He'll do.
