I still feel that would be lucky to get 30 games out of Owen in a football year and thats with him notplaying in the England team. If he is first pick for England then you would be lucky to get 20 games out of him before he falls apart.

Owen was fantastic when he was eighteen and light framed. The year he scored that goal against Argentina he was the best in the world and all Liverpool supporters were not surprised by that goal as we had seen him play like that all year for us. Inevitably he bulked up (as you do as you get older) and then he suffered a couple of bad injuries with his hamstring. He has definitly lost a couple of steps since he was eighteen although still a cool finisher. His latest injury to his knee was a bad one. Although he will still score (as he is still a good finisher), he will never be the same player as he was in '98.

Considering what he did with the club (as his actions absolve us from the need to be loyal too him) I do not want him back. Besides anyone that would play for the scum should never play for Liverpool. :cool:

I'm glad the general concensus is fu.ck him right off.

He's a good player but not for us anymore and he OWES Newcastle big time.

Michael Owen owes Newcastle nothing. Newcastle owe Michael Owen two years of his life, a Super Cup winners medal, an FA Cup winners medal, a Charity Shield winners medal and they pobably owe us a European Cup (we would of well won it last week with Owen on the pitch).

And for the fu.cking record Newcastle did not have a gun to his fu.cking head did they?

They came in with a big offer that we could not match, we told Owen this, but instead of leaning on Real, he took the money which is a lot of fuc.king money.

If I had paid £16m and paid Owen £120,000 a week for the best part of 2 years with only a handful of games in return I'd expect a bit of loyalty.

Put it this way, if i see a bookies that has decent odds on owen scoring MORE than 20 goals , ill snap his hand off.

He is proven end off, doubt his attitude all you want, his ability is not even up for debate

Exactly. Owen didnt have to go to Newcastle. People go on like he had no choice.

His injury problems are the only thing that should perhaps make us not wanting him back. In my opinion he's a top class striker as we exactly need to complete the team.
Buying him back seems to me like a poker "All-in" with an average hand: could be magnificient, but also a big disappointment if he get injured.

Do you take that risk? :eyebrow

if the bookies have decent odds on him playing less than 20 game i have a bet on that aswell.

Definitely mate...... but How much... I'm not sure... pretty sure it won't be the whole amount.....

Plus... that's one spot of the 4 strikers taken up by someone who may be submitting in a lot of sick notes....

Mo owes NUFC.... if he had been on Real Madrid's bench, he may have not made it to a world cup..... As that seems to be his top priority, wouldn't that constitute a debt?

Newcastle owes Michael Owen all those? With due respect, that's rubbish mate.... No one held a gun to his head... MO made the wrong choice again and cost HIMSELF all these things...... NUFC did not injure him badly by playing him while he was injured...... He got hurt in the normal course of a game in the season..... So how does NUFC owe him 2 years of his life?

I hope we dont sign Henry then because he is also injury prone, all the talk ive read about Owen claims that he has come back FITTER and STRONGER than hes ever been, obviously they are not going to say he could break down at any minute.He came back from a serious injury not a continuos knee or hamstring niggle !Gerrard suffered constant problems with his back when he was younger, did anyone say 'hes a risk lets get rid of him' ? We could just as easily sign Eto or Villa and they could suffer a career threatening injury, there are not many guarantees in football. But one thing that is guaranteed is that if he stays fit Owen is a goal machine
