my opinions, if you dont like them i dont really care, i will say it as it really is rather than gloss over another pathetic season.

we lost the champions league final to a.c milan in a tight game.
pathetic season?
i cant even be @rsed answering that one, either your stuck in a timewarp or you think winning football games is as easy as clicking your fingers.
you think alex ferguson is someone who doesnt have a clue what he`s doing, or mourinho?
enjoy your moaning moment mate, watch the game a few times, i`m sure you`ll find something else to moan about.

Ineed. Rafa never really made any critical mistakes. We were just really unlucky. Their goal was of a quality ManU would be proud of over the years of countless deflections. It was a disgraceful goal. Though if we'd scored one like it (we wouldn't. we arn't that lucky) then we'd have taken it and said nothing. I just feel like this sh*t is all a bad dream and I'm gonna wake tomorrow for the final. :sniffle

A few points from tonights game

1/ Rafa got his tactics spot on first half. Kuyt played with Gerrard up front, to pressurise Milan and to try to stop them building from the back. This worked! We just needed a goal to confirm our first half dominance.

2/ Zenden was a mistake, he had a poor game in that he had (or created) plenty of space and opportunities to make a name for himself, this he failed to do. Losing the ball or at best getting a throw in, instead of creating any chances.

3/ Mascherano was great, Kaka was in his pocket all night.

4/Pennant while having a very good first half, showed that he is sadly lacking a football brain, but still did well enough to earn another season.

5/Alonso's passing was poor, he looked slow and gave away too many freekicks. He was however pressurised almost every time he received the ball.

6/Rafa must make his substitutions earlier .

7/We desperately needed someone who scores goals (M.Owen), and a bit of luck. When you have control of a game you need to score or what happened tonight usually happens. A fluke goal changes the whole game.

8/The better team lost, sad but true.

9/I thought some of our passing was very sloppy, and our corners, free kicks and throw ins were as usual poor.

10/ The referee gave us nothing all night

There were a huge number of positives to take from our performance tonight but, I still feel gutted we lost.

COngratulations, I'm impressed by the sportmanship of most of you.

I'm a fan of Milan, back at home after being around the city for this win, but I know how you feel now. In the last years we played a lot of finals, sometimes we won, sometimes we lost so I learnt to live with both feelings.

Two years ago we played a perfect game, but we lost because of 6 minutes of madness, even if we had a couple of chances during the overtime too.

Tonight you lead the game but won't able to score while we had just two chances and scored twice. After 20 minutes I was really afraid to loose again because we were playing so bad and I think you could do better if you would have tried to attack more.

By the way that's soccer, you had a great night 2 years ago, back at the top of Europe after about 20 years with that wonderful player called Gerrard and born in Liverpool (I suppose). Now it's our moment, Paolo Maldini, 38, born in Milan can raise his 5th champions league, a great award for his amazing career.

I hope you'll play against inter next year, so I finally will cheer for you.

ps. sorry for my bad English

ah so now its moaning is it, do you really think i am moaning just for the sake of moaning? in fact i am not even moaing, i am just pointing a few things out. is that ok with you or do i have to fall in line with your 'everything in the garden is rosy' approach?

i suppose through your rose tinted glasses everything looked great last season, the sooner some of you gusy wake up and smell the coffee the better.

last season was a shambles, the figures dont lie, how anyone could even intimate that last season was a success is beyond me

Congratulations for the win, guess we stole the champions league from you two years ago, now you stole it from us. Your english seems pretty good, just say football instead of soccer and you're all set  :eyebrow . Hope we can play each other in the final again!

number one, too many times this season we have dominated matches only to come away with nothing, so wher does that fault lie with that? we need a goalscorer, its really that simple, we need someone who is prolific, last night we didnt have that on the pitch or on the bench. kuyt is a joke, milan must have been made up when they saw his as the lone striker, the one forward we possess that will cause them the least problems. crouch would have caused them problems, bellamy would have caused them problems, kuyt just runs around a lot with no real outcome for his effort. anyway lets hope this problem is solved in the summer

number two is rafa, yes folks rafa is not the tactical genius you all think he is, yes he is good but he is far from great. lets take last night for example, its obvious we need to change in order to get something, he brings kewell on for zenden (who shouldnt have even been on the pitch to start with), then he waits until 12 minutes from the end to add another striker, wtf is he thinking? rafa that tops this substituting masterstroke by bringing on arbeloa  ???   we needed to score an he brings on arbeloa rather that bellamy to run at their forwards hopefully causing panic.

i watched their defence last night and they were a joke, seriously they were a joke and we did nothing about it, we let them get away with it because rafa let it too late again. what is his problem with changing things during a game, sure we were creating a few chances but he just perseveres in the hope that we will score with what we have , rather that changing it slightly, our top scorer sat on the bench until 12 minutes from the end, the one guy who could have realy caused panic their defence when crosses come in, so he brings kewell on and he is supposed to cross to who exactly?  kuyt? give me a break.

anyway next season has to be better than this very very poor season, lets not dress it up as anything other than poor, i want to get back to enjoying watching my team rather than cringing at every long ball pumped froward or frowning at yet another missed chance because we dont have a goalscorer.

i dont care what he has done to us, we should be on the phone to metal mickey, 9 million is a snip, at least he knows where the goal is.

sad sad night guys, it was there for the taking and we never took it, we let them take it.

now the early finish to the game, yes he blew a bit early, in fact a substitution was made in injury time to there should have been another 30 seconds in my opinion, so we were robbed of a minute, but we shouldnt have even been worrying by that stage, we should have been celebrating.

anyway angry at the moment, also proud that the players on the pitch did their best and sad thet the players were also let down by a lack of any real goalscorer on the pitch.

rafa get you finger out and get this sorted, no more excuse, no more sh1t performances,

And there I was thinking we scored after Arbeloa came on, and Kuyt was the man who got it.  :upside:

yeah because it was that substitution that got us the goal, arbeloa changed the game when he came on

:D

lets be honest here, do any of you really think that kuyt will win us the premier league, whats his strike rate again?

this season can only be seen as transition, nothing else, hopefully this summer rafa will buy who he wants and then there can be no more excuses like we have had this season. although then some of you will start blaming it on the grass, or jupiter being in line with mars, anything rather than face facts

Jupiter was in line with Mars?! That means that Ares was facing Zeus! There was no way we could have won :D

Firstly congrats to Milan.  Its good to see that there are fans out there who aren't there to kick the opposition when they are down.  I was going to post something about how i hate cheating italians and ref was probably bribed, and all that sorta stuff, but after reading marcus' post along with other level headed milan & man u posts I changed my mind.  I realised just how easy it is to get wound up by stupid people who come on and start posting mindless cra.p to bring us down after losing.  So thank you guys for being level headed and making my first post something nice instead of angry.

As you can see, big fan of maschy and I really thought he should have been there for the whole game, he was crucial in keeping kaka silent.  I do believe that there are positives, sure we didn't win but it showed us just what we were lacking, a selfish finisher like Eto'o or Henry!!  I believe rafa picked the right team, we played better and limited their chances, we just didn't get on top of ours.  It is easier to be upset at losing when we play bad, but its so hard when you know you played well?  I will mourn today, but look positively into the future, cos it is RED!!!!  YNWA!!!

Ok just had a few things to rant..

1. Kuyt is not good enough! I know people think he's hardworking and run after everything but he does nothing really. His first touch is bad.

2. I expected Milan to play like they played against Man Utd but they were surprisingly bad and we didn't take our chances as usual. Lotsa pressure but no outcome. Pennant was very good though.

3. Crouch should have played but I guess Benitez didn't want him to keep getting fouls. Which makes no difference since Kuyt keeps getting penalised since the start of the game. Even Bellamy should have been a better choice. At least he has the pace. I guess Benitez just likes Kuyt? LoL.

4. Expected better from Steven Gerrard but he had a poor game. Sometimes, he looked to rush things. Love him as a player though, so I'm hoping he'll have a better upcoming season.

I'm still happy we were in another final. We did well getting there. Just couldn't finish it for #6. Hopefully, Benitez will buy some quality players for next season and not "players who he thinks he can make them quality". Good luck for the upcoming season Liverpool FC! :)

Do you think that part of his lack of goals was due to adapting to the Premiership? It would be a shame to sell him to Newcastle to see him suddenly perform... Remember that prior to this season he'd only played in the Dutch league...

Hmm, I'm not sure. I heard he was good in the Dutch League right? I was quite excited about him at first but he had a pretty consistent starts compared to the other forwards and he's still not scoring goals like we would want him to. It would be weird if we sell him to Newcastle and he starts scoring though. LoL.
