Gillett speaks... - Oh yeah!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Roger Red Hat » Thu May 03, 2007 4:47 pm

Read it all but take notice what he says about the new stadium. I reckon Tuesday night open his eyes a bit wider and it hit home what a special club this is.

read on...

LFC TV Link

Gillett again spoke of his desire to one day sit on The Kop – whether in its current form or in its new incarnation as the centerpiece of the club's new stadium.

"I wish I had been on The Kop on Tuesday, but I was concerned it would be a distraction. We've acknowledged the importance of The Kop already since we arrived and it's clear why the new stadium must be designed around it.

"We'll try to have as many seats in there as there used to be when it was originally a standing area. That's our ambition.

"That was once 24,000. We may not be able to get that many, but we'll certainly go beyond the 12,000 we have now."

The reality is that these people are proper business men - whilst appreciating what they have bought in to - they're no mugs they're already modelling the new stadium against the match day revenues being generated by the Mancs and more recently Ar.se.

How can we build a 60,000 stadium when we have a season ticket waiting list of 25,000 + on top of the current capacity?  logically you need a bigger capacity on top of the current against the proposed to full fill demand. They are shrewd and have the right idea, to buid a stadium to accommodate current oversubscribtion and demand for the future.

These guys are great and most definately the right choice :) Respecting the club and its traditions is about doing the right things - these people seem to be putting there money where they're hearts are

nah pedro mate they seem sound, yes its still early days and we havnt seen any cash yet but you can see from interviews they have given that there going to do everything they can to give us the best.

at heart these guys just love sport and what they have experienced at anfield is like nothing they have seen before, now they know what the club means to the fans and i trully believe we have won them over.

I don't believe it's a case of us having to win them over really, I think it should be more a case of them having to win US OVER. Currently they've not had much chance to make much of a difference but I have to give them credit that they are really going out of their way to say the right things and really immerse themselves in the culture of the club. It's deffinately gonna be a case of judging them on what backing they give Rafa in the transfer market this summer and what the finalized plans for the new stadium are like when they are finished.

didnt mean won them over in the sense that we had to do so to get them to part with money, people can tell you  about liverpool fans and what anfield is like but untill you experience it first hand its only then that you can fully understand how much the club means to the fans.

when they bought the club they said from the off that they where not fans, i dont believe that to be the case anymore, i believe we have won them over

On that I'd deffo agree. You've only got to see TH's cowboy boots with the club badge on to see that they've become totally infatuated with the club and the fans.

Infatuated might not be the right word but you get my drift.  :lookaround

Can't remember whether I read it on here or over on RAWK when I was havin a lookaround, but I read a post from somebody that was in the Paddock on Tuesday saying that GG & TH got well into the singing and the atmosphere. Not only were they singing YNWA but they were also trying to join in with some of the songs taking the piss outta chelsea.  :D

the more i see and hear of gillett & hicks the more i like them. as zara says these guys are razor sharp businessmen, from the land of the sharpest businessmen of them all. i think we can be confident of their ability to build liverpool fc into a huge financial success, these guys aren't just talking the talk - they've been there, seen it and done it in the states. they seriously know what they're doing. the fact that they seem to have quickly understood that liverpool fc is different is good. i think they realise they've bought into something very special indeed, and it's great to see them wearing their hearts on their sleeve and getting involved in the passion & excitement. now give us yer f*ckin money

Postby The Manhattan Project » Thu May 03, 2007 11:43 pm

Manhattan met them the other day.

We discussed a few things, such as what kind of posts I intend to make during the upcoming season and they assured me I would have their support. Also discussed was the matter of Manhattan's new avatar which originally was going to be 60 x 60 pixels, but they wanted it upgraded to 100 x 100, subject to council approval.

Decent guys, both of them.

Quite impressed.

I really did think this may be the end of the club.

But things haven't changed so far and long may it continue.

I'd prefere him to not say anything at all like Sir David Moores did, but at least he's not sounding like Ken Bates or someone daft like that.

I dont actually mind them making statements as long as they are just about the running of the club, not like Kenyon at Chelsea trying to talk about team affairs, i hate our players or the manager even talking about the team and games to the press so the moment the chairman/men start doing it i will be disappointed....lfc can do there talkin on the pitch. We are not yank boxers trash talkin trying to sell a fight.
