Djibril cisse - Marseille will not sign striker djibril

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Marseille will not sign striker Djibril Cisse, who is on loan from Liverpool, after his four goals in 14 games resulted in fans booing him.

What do you think will happen to Cisse as Benitez and Cisse don't get on and Benitez has said there is no future for him at Liverpool.

well if he don't go then he stays with us.....unless someone else comes in to buy him. Was hoping he would do well at marseille to jack up his price a bit, but now thats not gonna happen.....

how long does his contract with us last anyway? might even end up going on a free....

I am sure there will be takers for Cisse, he is a high profile player and catches the eye with his stupid hairstyles and sometimes spectacular goals.
Wouldnt surprise me if Spurs went back in for him, if they could get him on the cheap.

One things for sure he wont be coming back, Rafa does not like him....which is definately a good thing.

Yes!! Cisse is exactly what we are missing or NOT.

I really don't want to see him back here, according to the other lads in the dressing room Cisse was well liked - Gerrard and Carra have both said so in the past but Rafa doesn't like him and thats fine by me.

He did score a lot of goals last year but he just did not look the part to me - his first touch was woeful and I have never seen a striker not know how to break the offside trap.

I hope he goes for £5m but I'll be happy as long as he goes.

This would've been a major blow had the takeover not happened but seeing as how we aren't desperate for the money then I'm not too bothered by this story. Maybe somebody like the toon will take him or we may even be able to use him as a make weight in a deal this summer. Maybe Barca might become interested again seeing as how Henry says he not looking to leave the gooners. :;):

I can't see barca signing him, there is a big diffence between Henry and Cisse

Marseille have not decided yet.  Thats just a newspaper clipping which hasnt any real basis behind it.  Last week the chairman Papa Diouf said they will try to make the deal happen.   I think the price Liverpool want will have a lot to do with whether OM will sign Cisse.  If Rafa wants £8 mil for instance then OM will not pay. Other clubs will also not pay that.  I think Cisse coming back depends on who wants to take him.  If his not happy with a move then there is no reason to suggest he will not see out his contract.

French legend Jean-Pierre Papin has urged Djibril Cisse's critics to be more patient, as speculation continues to grow that Marseille will decide against signing the striker in the summer.

The French international has struggled with his form since joining on loan from Liverpool, scoring four goals in 14 games, but appears to still be feeling the effects of a career-threatening leg break sustained just before the World Cup finals.

Cisse has been booed by l'OM fans in recent weeks and could only make Albert Emon's bench for the 4-1 victory over Lille at the weekend, with various reports stating that the French club will not pay the €12million (£8.2million) fee needed to make his stay permanent.

However, former Marseille striker Papin has defended the contribution of Cisse, stating the on-loan Liverpool man is still struggling to hit peak form after his serious injury.

"Don't forget that this boy has suffered a six-month break twice over," Papin told L'Equipe.

"Normally, when you suffer such injuries you need one year to come back to peak form, but nobody says it.

"He lacks a little confidence - the last second, the last gesture, everything that makes a goalscorer - but he hasn't lost it.

"It is simple, he doesn't play with 100 per cent of his talent, maybe 70 per cent.

"People try to demolish him, that is unfair."

Marseille coach Emon has explained that his decision to leave Cisse on the bench against Lille was merely a tactical choice given his expectations of the game that l'OM won 4-1.

"It was an emergency to win, even with half a goal," said Emon. "It was not topical to talk about personal cases, I made a decision for the game.

"We play very high with few gaps and Mickael Pagis is at ease in the centre to give good balls, but Djibril makes a lot of efforts with a very good state of mind."

Well...Cisse 'lovers' should see that the problem is not about Rafa was wrong  playing him on the right side; he should be playing in the centre etc...., he's just another high profile mediocre striker.
