Ya, I'm quite sure his contract run out 2008. But the thing is the "deal" was worked out last summer=2 years before contract ends.
Unfortunately Liverpool has no bargain power in this case so Marseille is in no preasure to take that option and instead decline and get him for half this summer   :(

I think the fact that he has broken 2 legs in 2 years, and not some mincy hairline fracture mind you but full on breaks, should show he isn't quite at 100% right now, I am sure Marseille will make a bid, just a :censored: one. Cisse coming back would be a new dynamic to a very broad strike force, seriously ,Crouch, Bellers, Kuyt, Voronin, Cisse, get all them firing on all cylinders and we've got a title contender. Cisse was :censored: but could you imagine how hard he would work to prove himself at a second go? I was constantly frustrated with his play for us, but I think a second go wouldn't be as detrimental as everyone thinks. Unless he is on his last year, in that case, we should settle for a pack of peanuts.

Well, he did score some goals, but he just isn't fitting into Rafa's team, never has. Way to simplistic and one dimensional player. I'll never forget the games vs manure and Chelski myself...
Just have to accept that it was a terrible buy and we'll loose a buckload of cash.

Time to move on from it. And I'm almost 100% it's his last year of his contract.

From OM Site.

The translation makes it a bit hard to read:

On Infosport Friday, Pape Diouf contradicted to have taken the decision not to exercise the option of cat of Djibril Cissé, lent by Liverpool. Pape Diouf indicated Friday on Infosport that it expected one difficult season on behalf of Djibril Cissé after his long absence on wound: “I read in the press which the decision had been made by us not to keep it. I am registered into false against this information because no decision of our share was made. You speak about disappointment, I say not. When Djibril arrived, it returned from a very long wound. Those which practise with assiduity the things of football know that when a player is wounded for a long duration it need for the same time has to return. One expected that. The tendency today is neutral. It has an opinion to express. It should at least be listened to.

Basically the chairman is saying its 50/50 on the cisse signing.

i say wtf?

What doesnt make sense about that  ???

All it means is that we may of been relying on funds from selling Cisse before we could bring in new players, now it might not be quite so relevant.

I really don't want to see him back here, according to the other lads in the dressing room Cisse was well liked - Gerrard and Carra have both said so in the past but Rafa doesn't like him and thats fine by me.

He did score a lot of goals last year but he just did not look the part to me - his first touch was woeful and I have never seen a striker not know how to break the offside trap.

I hope he goes for £5m but I'll be happy as long as he goes.
