16% of people have considered emigration - And now i've done it.

Yeah they reckon 16% of people are either actively emigrating from the UK or are seriously considering it. Most won't do it of course but I guess it says something. Some will know that my lovely missus is Kiwi so it wasn't perhaps such a massive step for us, particularly as the two kids have dual passports the lucky little feckers.
To be honest, many of the reasons people give for leaving the UK didn't really apply to me that much. I didn't hate my homeland, I didn't think the country was finished, it just seemed like the right move at the time. There's problems in the Uk but there's problems anywhere, that's the way it is.

Anyways a quick update. We came over via USA where we stayed for a couple of weeks in Minnesota. Lots of overwieght people, fantastic fast food, pretty cold and everybody quite offputtingly friendly. Beautiful but could no more live there than fly in the air (sorry AB). Very cheap trainers though. I bought four pairs (I like the flat soled ones, you know sort of vintage old school a bit like Vans I guess) for $114. I reckon they would have been a bullseye apiece in the UK no danger.

Arrived NZ Saturday morning and even though we have had a freak rainstorm for a couple of days, it's still the Summer and let me tell you Crimbo does not belong in the middle of the fecking Summer. Any Aussies or Yanks or Kiwis who tell you it's better to have prawns on the beach for crimbo dinner need a swift kick in the goolies and another on the way down. It's b0ll0cks.

In the New Year, I'm going to try and get a job and I'm qualified to do precisely feck all so that should be interesting. In the meantime I'm enjoying the micky mouseness of the telly, and the naff adverts, "grab yer cozzie, and come to Aussie" (freedom air). I don't know if anybodies in the least bit interested but there's probably never been an emigration thread on here so here it is. I'll update on my progress now and then and please ask away if you've got anyy queries. I might as well talk about this as I haven't sen a football kicked in anger for about three weeks.

Get Sky bigmick mate (New Zealand pay TV). It's cheaper than Sky in the UK and it's football coverage on Sky Sports and ESPN is excellent. Plenty of live Champions League and Premiership, you won't miss much.

all you need to do now is develop a fondness for all things woolly and you'll fit right in.

When you get a chance, you should make it to the mainland. Maybe you could join the barmey army on boxing day - muahahahaa :D

Well in Bigmick, big choice you made, hope it works out, nevermind its NZ, we forgive ya.
