Just thought id reminicse for a while :

I have just returned from a trip to London and was smitten by a touch of history on the way back.
As we pulled away from Euston the train passed the site of the new Wembley Stadium. The host of cranes reaching into the sky proved that construction is well under way and a new stadium holding the next phase of cup finals at Wembley will soon be with us.
The train moved along and I remembered some of my own personal memories of the old ground.
The first one I recalled - and probably my favourite was watching the reds win our first ever FA cup against Leeds...what a day - and what a night!
After that game I visited wembley many times again as our great team powered its way through the domestic and European trophies. Started of course by the great uncle of football - Bert!
I was there when Kenny scored the winner against Bruges to win the European Cup, and was at the historical Everton game...but the best one for pure football skill was the '74 final against Newcastle, which must go down as one of the best team displays ever seen at Wembley (probably second only to that great Hungarian team that battered England 6-3).
So the old Wembley has a lot of great memories for me( I tend to forget any finals we may have lost very quickly).
Lets hope the new stadium brings about the same number of appearances and successes for the reds as the old one did.
Maybe its the start of a new era all round.
