Kop talk and rafa's spending - As above

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby alessandromagno » Mon Aug 07, 2006 10:33 am

There's an interesting post on KopTalk today concerning our chase for Kuyt. The article basically says that Liverpool may well miss out just because they won't match Feyenoord's asking price--even though Kuyt would prefer to come to Anfield. The article comments on the fact that Rafa has already missed out on Simao and Alves for the same reason--and says that behind the scenes he will be less than pleased if he misses out on another main target for the same reason! It is further suggested that Rafa was not pleased at only getting his second choice in Pennant.

All this connects with the latest valuations of international clubs. MU and Real Madrid are 1 and 2--both valued at more than a billion. AC Milan and Inter are not far behind. Even Arsenal are worth nearly a billion at more than 800 million. Liverpool limps into the the lower reaches of the top ten with a valuation of just 370 million pounds.

Will Rafa become more and more frustrated as he fails to sign his preferred target players?

No, he'll just build a premiership winning, european conquering Liverpool team out of what he has got, and lets not forget, he's got a good team to work with. He'll just bring the best out of the current team.

job sorted.

It speculates a lot and consequently is often wrong. A problem could arise if Rafa fails to win the PL--and feels the reaSON waS that he was a couple of quality players short. I really hope we get Kuyt, as it will be a sign that we are not ALWAYS priced out of moves for top players.

For me it's a fairly negative point, badly put. Level of discussion becomes fairly basic when a poster is praised for rubbishing a Liverppol site "Krap Talk") that tries to give breaking news on issues that are still uncvertain. I find it far more interesting to read the speculation on Kop Talk than all the nothingness on the official site. By the way, Goat do you really need to carry all that lumber under EVERY post?

You are the epitome of everything that is wrong with football fans these days.

"I would rather pay to read rubbish speculative unfounded rumours about the club than peruse the official site and read the real stories about Liverpool Football Club."

Dont get me wrong, I am as (childishly) excited as the next man when the transfer window opens, with the links and stuff, but to say that you would rather pay good money to read the stuff on KrapTalk than find out the real deals ?

I suggest that you:

1) Save the money from your Krap Talk subscription and invest in an e-season ticket. That way you can read hear and see the views of legends of this football club, instead of the inane rampblings of the kn.ob heads who own and run Krap Talk who are not even legends in their own households.

2) Buy Championship Manager and sign all the players that we are linked to.

3) Stop talking bollox.

Can't pretend to know how Rafa is feeling but for myself I'm p'issed of that a club of our apparent stature is prepared to pay what could be a final figure of £8 million for Pennant and yet can't find a way of raising another £4 million for Alves who was clearly Rafa's first choice ..

Surely Rafa has the confidence of whoever controls the purse strings at LFC ?

Can't help but recall Rafa's comment about valencia

the glaisers did a re-mortgage recently to lessen the yearly payments at united and the club now owes the banks 660m.
i think that is closer the mark, i remember when united sneaked over the 1bn mark but that was when they`d just won the treble and were the dominant force in the english game.
and no way is the arsenal club and brand worth 800m.
