Traore to sign for charlton - £2m fee agreed according to reports

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby ivor_the_injun » Sun Aug 06, 2006 12:10 pm

It's very nearly bye-bye Djimi - personal terms were apparently agreed for a three-year deal with Charlton on Friday, and a £2m fee has since been agreed with LFC.

The Mirror online reported this yesterday, but it's now being picked up by the Charlton fansites as fact, so I'm assuming at least one of them has done their homework.

Passing reference to a fee being agreed on SSN as well...

Sky Sports report on imminent Charlton signings

From the sound of it, we were looking to offload Traore and Diao as a package, but with Diao failing a medical last week, that's gone out of the window.

Assuming this goes through in the next couple of days, I expect we'll see Kuyt's signing to be soon after. :buttrock

And if £2m is correct, that's a great result for us.  :D

2million! Excellent, cya Djimi, all the best.

And Diao, well the less said the better, he's a waster.

One of the few profits we have made on a player in recent times....

We bought him for 500K....and sold him for 2 million  :buttrock

All the best and for 2 million, bonus , oh the irony of making a profit on him.
For that price that might as well have Diao

Spot on, mate!  :D   Traore for 2 million is an outstanding bit of business.  I'd have been over the moon if we had got a combined 2 million for Traore and Diao so why not through Salif in as bonus?  Kind of reminds me of those late night infomercials:

"...And that's not all!!!  Call now to order your Djimi Traore: Bambi On Ice™ figurine--for 4 easy payments of 499.95K (plus shipping and handling)--and we'll include this limited edition Salif Diao: Making Up the Numbers in Midfield™ figurine absolutely free!!!  Operators are standing by..."

Goodbye Djimi I'am sure gonna miss you a great servent to the club even though you made the odd mistake here and there

I was told by someone he was a great lad in the dressing room and good mates with Momo, don't know how true that is but I am sure he will be missed by his teammates( means Carra can stop shouting at him lol)

Charlton are getting a decent player good in the tackle not bad in the air, I think (and hope) he will do well for them as he desereves to start at a club like theirs it never really occered to me that he was here for so long 7 years wow

Well he was a star for us I think good bye Djimi I am sure he will get a great reception when he returns to Anfield

Imo he is an awful player, he is poor in the air and gets caught out of position too often.
The lad gives his all and i respect that, but he is nowhere near good enough.
If we get 2 million for him, then Rafa should be wearing a mask and striped jumper.

I do wish him well but will be made up when this deal is completed.

2 million, while i'm over the moon to see the back of bambi on ice he is still a defender that played in the champions league final a year ago and he has a long contract , I reckon that charlton have got a bargin there when everscum have paid though the nose for a unproven wolves defender

rafa has shown again that he knows who are the weak links and while he need to keep djimi as squad cover last year he is surplus to requirements this term , all the best you were another GH player who didn't cut the mustard but always trained hard and never moaned or bitched( because you knew you were on a good thing) hope you do well and limit the clangers to one a season against us  see ya !!!!!!!!

Troare has given his best at the club, he has taken a lot of abuse and never once kicked up a fuss.

Ultimately he is not good enough, he lacks the positional sense, the touch, decision making, aerial ability and confidence to play at such a high level.

I wish him well at Charlton.

2 Mil is a good price, and hopefully that money will be put towards a new striker.

Some of you will laugh but Im a little sad to see the guy go. Been a loyal servant for many a year, always gave a 110%, I always thought he would develop into a better player, but unfortunaly didnt.

Fairwell old friend! Best of luck.
