Can't score from open play

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby azriahmad » Sun Aug 24, 2003 3:43 pm

I'm writing this message during the 2nd half of the Villa-Liverpool game. I am getting very frustrated by the way Liverpool play. Can't string along more than 3 or 4 attacking passes, no penetrative runs from Kewell (in contrast to Duff in yesterday's game), over reliant on Owen with the all too familliar long ball game and can't seem to score from open play. Watching Liverpool play is really tearing me emotionally buy why can't I support another team? I can't answer that. I guess if one has been a fan since 1976, allegencies can't just be changed at will.
What's wrong with Liverpool, given the talent we have? Any ideas people?

Here are some ideas. sack houllier, get rid of owen, as he has never been good enough to be the focul point of the team. Shove a red hot poker up murphys a#se so he isn't so lazy. Get rid of our entire defense which contrary to popular opinion, is slow, static, uncomfortable on the ball and are at times very indebted to their goal keeper. There are many more problems but there is no point in listing them as the kamikaze dictator GH is destined to restore doom and gloom at anfield after so much promise. It's gonna be a long season of torment

Watched the game too,i still have to say that houllier doesnt know how to get players to play to their ability, ive never been to the training ground but i think the problems are starting there,i think the players are frustrated by houlliers tactics if he has any,and their body language on the pitch doesnt look good at all,we have problems people and they are going to get worse,so we had better get used to it as much as its going to kill me/us,there needs to be a change of personnel, but thats not down to us. :(

Probably it would be good if we lost another game. This will be the final wake-up call for the board to sack Houllier. I read that West Ham has sacked Roeder.
Sack Houllier, get any number of bright British managers who'd give an arm and a leg to be able to manage a team such as Liverpool.

last season we have 13 games without a win....including 1 draw & 1 lost to Sunderland (the worst team in EPL last season) ..GH still in-charge, the tactic still the same, long ball, find Heskey, heading, lost the ball to opponent's defender......

sorry to say under GH, Kewell is hardly to score 16 goals again in LFC....even u get T.Henry or V.R Nestrooy to LFC...they are hardly to score goals...with such defensive, poor passing, and boring tactic in LFC !!

Judging by the comments we've been reading in these pages, it is quite obvious that there are a lot of fans who think that Houllier is the main culprit. Look at it, who is responsible for the rigid and sterile way Liverpool plays? If it is not the Manager, then there must be someone else in charge...
Why doesn't the Board of Directors listen to any of our comments and opinions? Come on, it is pretty obvious what is the way forward. If the Board is more interested in the commercialisation of the merchandise, it is also directly related to the success and the way the team plays. So, first of all, let's get back to winning ways and play attractive football by sacking Houllier and getting a real manager!

yes.....totally agree.

we all knew that Real Madrid have sacked Vicente Del Bosque just a day after he led the Spanish giants to their 29th League title ! According to the Real Madrid Board of Director, they considered that the team needs a change in accordance with recent developments at the club.....

Real Madrid as one of the best club in the world have to perform better and better, they can't stop from improving...but see LFC...we are not hoping that BOD to sack manager who can win the EPL title...but at least we want a better football from LFC and more creative football from GH !! we want LFC at least qualify for Champion League next season .....

What in the world are the board waiting for, b4 GH is kicked out.? To use phrases like LFC are improving, simply tells me he's lost it. Real Madrid sacked a coach who won the Spannish League, yet a great club like LFC is hanging on to a manager who'll win nothing major this season.

Roy Evans was said not to be doing well;  well, during his time LFC never got out of the first 4, yet he got the sack. LFC belong in the same league as the Man Us etc not Aston Villa! for God's sake!

I believe the excuses, scape goating, and openly criticising players have done a great deal of damage to the moral of the players, they need a new general to steer them to victory not a manager who can dispense with talented players like Anelka

GH must be shown the door sooner than later !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
