Lads and lassies,
I don't know what you all think, but looking at the body language of Rafa last night (depressed to f**k and all as I was !), I don't think he'll be there next season. Where was the passion up and down the sidelines ? And the board won't give him the funds that Chelski can offer, or that the Glazer's have promised for next season.
So where will the new blood/talent come from

Rafa's hands will be tied.....again !! He should've got millions after last year's exploits but none was forthcoming. :no

Don't want to throw a dampener on things, but that's my tuppence worth....

WE don't have ONE single striker who can be relied on to score.

Fowler - a decade past it (put aside your emotions, it is true)
Morientes - not cut out for a premiership team
Cisse - not a footballer
Crouch - has a chance of linking up with a striker, worthless without one.

get anelka and kyut - power and pace. (and amazingly goals!)
keep crouch - come off the bench if were strugling, keep pongole-a bit tricky(something different).

sell all the other strikers for approx 6 million and buy lovenkradz(spelling?) quick and scores GOALS. and leave gerrard in the middle where he belongs

Bloody hell, lets all go and kill ourselves.

First off, the fact that we seemed to have taken getting into Europe's last 8 for granted says something. The fact that we were chuffed about drawing Benfica says something. And the fact that going out one round later than United and in the same round as the £300m misfits also says something.

Let's be honest, a few years ago, we looked up at United and Arsenal and got stiff necks from doing so. Now, we're looking down on Arsenal in a manner that they used to do to us. We're basically within touching distance of finishing above United, something we've done ONCE in over 15 years.

And, more importantly, the majority of our side is sorted. Pacey winger and goalscorer added to the equation, and you'd struggle to find a real weakness.

To sum up, sure it's gutting to go out, especially since against an inferior side but we've come a HELL of a long way in a short period of time and in the real world, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

You're never going to ONLY have highs. We experienced the ultimate high last year and when you reach the peak, you CAN only go down. But despite this low, we'll come out of it stronger and better. The lads will be better for the experience and the side will only get better.

Crouch and Cisse up front could have created alot better chances, I think Cisse will get sold next season and the bloody sad excuse for a striker Morientes will stay. Hopefully someone will be sold, in all honesty I don't care who, as long as we get someone in.

Good post St Mike, however, I would liek to make a few observations:

(Playing what is potentially the weakest team in the competition, we are well within our right to think so - YES!!) The fact that we were chuffed about drawing Benfica says something.(Like What?) And the fact that going out one round later than United (who gives a s.hit!! They are not the benchmark anymore, and have not been for about three seasons) and in the same round as the £300m misfits also says something (However they got beaten by possibly the best team in the world at the moment, hardly the same!!) .

We're basically within touching distance of finishing above United (Like I have said before, they are not the benchmark anymore, and have not been for about three seasons, however we are 2 points behind, playing one game more) something we've done ONCE in over 15 years.

And, more importantly, the majority of our side is sorted. Pacey winger and goalscorer(/s + 2 - possible cost 15 million plus combined - funding?? Unless we off load of course) added to the equation, and you'd struggle to find a real weakness.

To sum up, sure it's gutting to go out, especially since against an inferior side but we've come a HELL of a long way in a short period of time and in the real world, you have to take the rough with the smooth. (AGREED, however we have not won the league for 15 years or so)

We experienced the ultimate high last year (to a point, yes, however the ultimate high IMO is the premier league title, we are nowhere near that!!) and when you reach the peak (No St Mike IMO when you reach the PEAK, you build on that by attracting top class personnel to join a successful club, we have not done that in key areas) you CAN only go down. But despite this low, we'll come out of it stronger and better. (AGREED Hopefully) The lads will be better for the experience and the side will only get better. (AGREED, hopefully)

To summarise, in all my posts I very rarely post negatively about the club I love. However, we have achieved in Rafa's tenure IN SPITE OF OUR STRIKERS, NOT BECAUSE OF THEM, and for that I will hand it to Rafa's genius.

This is the worst strikeforce this club has had for the last 40 years, until it is sorted, we will be found wanting at the highest level.
