i am happy at both result and moral...stright after alan smith was down, liverpool player and physio come right up to help or comfort him...this is the sportmanship we want...

I thought that he did alright myself. Considering the tackles that were going in throughout the match, I think he did his best to keep things flowing and limit the amount of cautions.
I can't think of a decision that he got wrong either

He was the victim of an ill-advised piece of transfer business by Ferguson when he bought him and then very soon after paid a king's ransom for Rooney. Obviously Rooney and Van Nistelroy were going to be the first choices and along with Saha closed the door on Smith playing up top.
I said at the time Man U bought him that would love to have seen him at Liverpool. He is a much better technician and footballer than many give him credit for and is as hard as nails with a heart of a lion to go with it.
I hope he recovers and that when he does, goes to a team which plays him up top. As a footnote and I know it's already been said, despite the fact that the pain must have been absolutely excrutiating his stoic and non-histrionic reaction said much about the man. In direct contrast to the histrionics and throat-clutching we have seen recently and it would do people like Robben no harm at all to view the footage.
