I thought that he did alright myself. Considering the tackles that were going in throughout the match, I think he did his best to keep things flowing and limit the amount of cautions.

I can't think of a decision that he got wrong either

Thats a fuc.king joke of a comment. LOL

Great result for us, thourght that either Momo or Finnan deserved the MoM honours, was really sad to read the report on Liverpoolfc.tv to hear that Allen Smith had a broken leg and ankle. Could be career-threatening....
But well done to Benitez, once again he shows so much class in his responce, I doubt that Alex Ferguson would bother to publicy wish one of our players luck after such terrible injury.

Everton fans on bluekipper are claiming that Liverpool fans surrounded Alan Smith's ambulance after the match, trying to stop it from leaving Anfield and shouted "Let the cu.nt die". They are passing this off as fact.  :veryangry  :no  :veryangry

yeah, dead right. its hilarious gloating over a broken leg and dislocated ankle when the guy is lying on the ground in agony. i don't know why our players don't break more limbs on purpose so we can all have a giggle again.

some of the people on here have no dignity or honour whatsoever and i find it disgusting.

What kind of idiot are you?

Riise shot didn't "snap" his ankle: Smith's studs caught in the turf as he charged down the shot and he fell on it akwardly.

How can you condone those fans that sang the Riise song after the incident? Do you not remember what happened to Cisse last year at Blackburn?  :veryangry

I can only think that you are on a wind-up and a totally unfunny one at that. You are either not a Liverpool supporter and are on here masquerading as one to make all Liverpool supporters look bad, or you are an idiot.

:no

That post is pretty darn awful mate, inhumane even.

I would expect such comments to come from a Chelsea or ManU fan, but a Liverpool fan? You can't be, surely not lad  :no

I wish Alan Smith a speedy recovery and he continues his career as an ineffective midfielder for the Mancs..........
To be honest i rated the lad as a striker and thought he showed the attributes of a typical english brave centre forward now he has a horrific injury to get over and a non starter career as a midfielder under ferguson ...

I don't know how anybody could wish that kind of injury on a player, regardless of who he plays for.

A friend of mine who is a doctor said that its a savage injury. She said his broken bone will heal ok, but the dislocated ankle is most serious and if he ripped liagements (and there is a chance that he did) he may never play again.

He's a good player is Smith. I agree with Phil in that he is a front man and always will be. He was the victim of an ill-advised piece of transfer business by Ferguson when he bought him and then very soon after paid a king's ransom for Rooney. Obviously Rooney and Van Nistelroy were going to be the first choices and along with Saha closed the door on Smith playing up top.
I said at the time Man U bought him that would love to have seen him at Liverpool. He is a much better technician and footballer than many give him credit for and is as hard as nails with a heart of a lion to go with it.
I hope he recovers and that when he does, goes to a team which plays him up top. As a footnote and I know it's already been said, despite the fact that the pain must have been absolutely excrutiating his stoic and non-histrionic reaction said much about the man. In direct contrast to the histrionics and throat-clutching we have seen recently and it would do people like Robben no harm at all to view the footage.

I cannot argue with any of that Mick.I too wanted Smith as a forward at Anfield because i was certain he was what we needed up front. The guy even got England call ups as a centre forward.
When he joined Manure he was banging them in and was been compared to Dennis Law,so it beggars belief that old whisky nose sees him as a midfielder. He is a centre forward through and through and i wish him a speedy recovery.
