LFC VS CHELSEA - Build up...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm not too worried about their wing play - we've shut them down completely in some games, and the Anfield match was a freak, not only because we were chasing the game from early on, but Drogba played like a class striker, and Hyypia looked weak. Those 2 things couldn't possibly happen twice to gether! OK, Drogba won't be there tomorrow, but defensively we have the answer to the way they play - which may be why Maureen is so scared of us - and part of the reason why I think we are going to get the 3 points.....................

NeilE, I bet you thought we were going to get the 3 points on Wednesday too?

Nothing is certain.

I think Chelsea are suffering from very tired legs from their most important players, and they are also very worried about Barcelona.
But we are tired also, but we are not playing Barca next week  :D

fair point mate. I listened to Wednesday's game on .tv and Jan Molby was on saying how Birmingham always seem to get one over us. I thought at the time that made some kind of sense, even though we've been much better this season at putting the lesser sides away. Anyway, yes I did think we'd beat Birmingham, but weirdly, because we didn't, I'm even more upbeat about the Chelsea game. Am I certain? no of course not, but sometimes you get a feel for games, one way or the other - and I think we are going to beat Chelsea

Rafa likes to play traore against chelsea....guess he thinks traore can keep either robben, duff or cole quite......

I just hope we dont get tw@tted like at Anfield.
I can see us playing very cautious like we did at Old Trafford.

I agree with the other posts, I can see Djimi playing. Hope it's Riise though.

We are an improved team from the one in October though and I dont think Chelsea have been too impressive.
Fingers crossed.

Theres a reason why Traore has played as a LB against Chelsea in the past. Kewell wasn't fit and when he was he wasn't in the form he is in now. So Riise played as a winger and Traore filled in for Riise as the fullback. Also the last time we played them at Anfield, Riise wasn't in form so we had Zenden on the flank I believe and Traore as LB.

The thing is - Agger can play at left back, and I think he's the best we've got for Sh*tski.

Maybe a little too early to be playing him against the scrubbers, but definately a better option than Traore (whom I think will play today! )

Come on Rafa - dump the lump!!!!!

Lando mate see my post. I just don't see how Benitez would play Traore whose last game was a month ago.

I think it's just because he's played virtually every time against Sh*tski.

It's enough to give you the trots!!!!!!!!!!  :D   :D

LAMPARD

“It is hard to call how it is going to go,”

“When Liverpool came to our place before, they played very tight. They get balls up to Peter Crouch and play off a lot of the second balls he can give them. I am sure they will come with a confidence and a will to win but we have the same.

“I think Liverpool will probably take that attitude they have to win it. There have been statements coming out of their end the last few weeks saying the championship race was virtually over.

“We certainly don't see it that way. We need to make sure it is over and we won't stop until we do that. But with the points gap as it is, they have more of a necessity to win it than we do.”

RAFA:

“We have one more point than Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal but two more would have been better for us,” admitted Benitez.

“Chelsea will be a very difficult game but I am only thinking about three points and seeing my team continue to improve and close the gap on them. I always look to the next game and prefer not to talk about the league table.

“Apart from the match when we made some mistakes and lost 4-1, games between ourselves and Chelsea have been decided by just the one goal. That is because both teams have a lot of good players and play at a similar level.”

Anyone wants to bet on first scorer could fancy backing God. I've been calling right more often than not on England scorers recently but this is based on a game on PES5 where he nodded in the first and laid on the second in a 2-0 win. Chelsea have looked far from convincing recently but while money can't buy 'respect' for Jose it seems to have done his luck no harm
