This looks to me like Rafa preparing to clear the decks of strikers for next season. I think he's basically saying to Cisse and Nando that it's last chance saloon time. They've got half a season to prove they've got a career at Anfield before he signs a new player and brings Mellor and The Pong back buoyed by Premiership experience. I think it's a good move for Pongolle only if he's playing regularly for Blackburn though, and that's no guarantee in itself.

I think it's not a good bye, but a see you later.

With 4 strikers on the squad, the 4th one gets minutes only when there are injuries. With 5, even less minutes. 5 strikers in a squad is a decent number! so as he's young Rafa preffers him playing regular football, and BTW test if he can keep the weight of being on a starting eleven regularly, in his back.

So this loan might be surprising in the forum because at the moment, 2 of the regular strikers have lost the confidence of people (Cisse, Morientes), but it seems that Rafa relies on them more than we do. He did the same with Crouch, when many, including people of this forum criticised Crouch harshly when he had the Europe-wide famous scoring drought.

So, see you soon Pongolle, best of lucks there in BlackBurn

i can't see any way that this is a good idea. despite the return of robbie, who is not going to be a regular 90 minutes player, we are short on the striker front. we're still in plenty of competitions and need the full squad. if we don't see another striker coming in in the next 4 hours this can only be a mistake.

It's a shame Rafa has let him go,but hopefully he will cause a few problems for our rivals whilst playing for Blackburn.

I think it's a good move.

Pongo is an excellent player, quick and technically gifted. His only downfall is his lack of Premiership experience. That wasn't very likely to be improved in the current set-up - with Robbie Fowler turning up and pushing him further down the pecking order he would be restricted to 20-minute cameo roles coming off the bench.

This way, Pongo gets the experience he needs. I imagine he'll be playing week-in, week-out for Blackburn. When we get Pongo back at the end of the season, we'll get back the same quick, technically gifted player, but one who's had 6 month's experience as a first-choice striker with a bunch of mid-table scrappers.

This could be the chance for him to rocket from 'promising young talent' to 'first class Liverpool striker'.

The clock is ticking and theres still no right winger yet.
Gettin rid of Pongolle could cost us big if our midfield gets some injury problems...
Im fookin baffled by this loan deal

Pongolle is neither a winger nor a central midfielder, so how would loaning him out cause us problems in the midfield? I'm baffled by your comment.

He may play on the wing from time to time like Cisse does, but he's a striker and isn't as effective when he plays on the flank.

Look at the positives, at least he hasn't been shipped to france where he would be playing a low level football not much better then the reserves.

He can learn and continue adapting to the prem.

Yeah i know, but we aint got a right winger at all so to loan out a player who can at least play there from time to time is crazy.
But if we sign one then this arguement is irrelivent.

My big problem with this move is that I can’t see Pongo getting many games at Blackburn. They have Bellamy, Dickov, Kuqi and have just got Bently on a permanent deal. How many games will he really get?

I hope he can get a run on games for them, but I don’t think Mark Hughes has bought him with that in his mind, I reckon he just there to cover for injuries, I hope I’m wrong though.

I think him being here is quiet pointless anyway, 4 strikers ahead of him in the pecking order, might as well get him off the wage bill and get him closer to first team action.

But is Blackburn really the right move? We’ll have to wait and see.

well a least if pongolle is getting games, it'll be in the premiership.
i dont agree with loaning out young players to foreign clubs in foreign leagues.
the premiership is what they need preparing for not the french league!
we all know the quality of football between the the two is immense!
take cisse and drogba....Stars in france, Flops in england

Bentley is a midfielder, Dikov a veteran (injured at the moment), Bellamy is injury prone and Kuqi (or however you spell it) is :censored:.

Blackburn need a striker - i see him starting 70 - 80 % of their matches.
